Not too many games today (Sunday). Just Saints vs Jags at 1PM and Bills vs Bears at 8PM. Didn't watch as many games yesterday personally, I was working. I listened to our game and the first half of the Raiders vs 49ers game. Raiders might be very different with Pete Carol and Geno Smith.

The Read Optional:Was Bryce Young's leap for real?
Hoenheim replied to lumbeecheraw75's topic in Carolina Panthers
We will definitely find out this year, assuming he stays healthy. I don't want him to be benched or replaced by Dalton in any game. I want a full 17 game sample size of how well he does in his 3rd year in the league and 2nd year in Canales' system. It's either put up or shut up time. I think he either has to play consistently very good, or he can be average if we're winning. If he's bad enough for us to pick high enough up in the draft to replace him in a loaded 2026 QB draft, then he'd be replaced imo. The exact criteria for his success is a little harder to define. Something like 3000+ passing 20+ TDs 12 or less INTs, statistically would be nice. Or if he has underwhelming stats/performance, getting to or winning a playoff game could keep him rolling otw to a cap busting contract as well . The Panthers have been so starved for winning seasons or playoffs over the last 7 years, I don't think they'll change any major parts if we finally get back to winning. I'm personally not sold on Bryce until we either have a winning/playoff season, or he consistently plays very well for an entire NFL season. He hasn't done that yet. -
Not long after he had a long td throw though lol

Tyler Shough for the Saints throws a 45 yard pick 6 lol

Media touting tonight as The Shedaur Show
Hoenheim replied to Puresteel55's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not true, I've heard the Panthers mentioned multiple times in the off season. Recently Ocho Cinco on nightcap has saying he likes the Panthers WRs .I saw Dan Morgan getting interviewed on the Pat MacAfee show and they sometimes talk about us. I think the media sentiment has been generally fairly positive about them this off season. Although expecting us to get a cowboys like constant coverage won't happen unless we maybe win 5 super bowls lol I guarantee you, there would be a lot more coverage if we won more games. Its that simple . Being a constantly losing or mediocre team for the most part its hard to get people beyond your own fans to care about mentioning the team often -
Trey Lance has been looking pretty decent with the chargers . Kinda reminds me of how Harbaugh was good with Capernick with the 49ers.

Hope this will be chubba on game 1 vs the Jags lol

Evero?!?! Should he be on the Hot Seat
Hoenheim replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Teppper just needs to chill for a bit. And quite honestly Canales inherited Bryce as well. He deserves at least 3 seasons to either make Bryce work or get his own QB to make it work. Not saying Bryce is bad right now, but clarifying the context here. We still need to see him perform well over an entire season and get that win total up over well over 3 or 5 wins. I think we need something like an 8-9 or 9-8 season to really make it seem like the team is making progress. And year 3 of Canales should be when the expectations go up imo. 10 or more wins and/or playoffs should be expected by then. -

Pretty sure he got picked up as the DC for the Jets. Not exactly sure what happened to him after he bizzarely got let go from San Fran after their last trip to the Super Bowl -
LA Chargers with a 4th down goal line stop on the Saints.

I never liked the injury excuses. There's always going to be guys that go down in a season on a defense, it's just a question of who and when. I won't act like we don't have shitty depth on defense. But at some point, Evero is the common denominator if they suck again. Imagine at any other job, if you're leading a department that constantly underperforms, at some point you are going to be held responsible as the leader and get canned for lack of performance, regardless of what may have caused it. -
Rattler starting for the Saints. Heineke looked al little innacurate first drive for the Chargers but there was also some WR drops. They are wearing those crisp powder blue unis
-
They are both still relatively young. Kyle Allen around 29 backup for the Lions, Heineke around 32 backup for the Chargers. IDK what Kyle Allen has been up to in the years since he left the Panthers but, Heineke had some good games for the Commanders when Rivera was still there.

Going from 5-12 to 8-9 is a pretty sizable improvement of 3 wins. I think there's just been so much hype around this team this off-season that it might feel like failure though. We have not had 8 wins or more since then 2017 season, which was also our last winning season. I don't think it's realistic to think our defense is going to be good enough for us to do something crazy like flip our record from 5 - 12 to 12-5 or something. But I would be pleasantly surprised if that happened.
-
Apparently Case Keenum is still in the league, backup QB for the Bears. Not sure if he's the backup or if Bagent is. He must be just as old as Dalton is, he's been playing for a while.
-
Hot damn, another sack by the Bears. Austin Booker their rookie they drafted in 2024 has 2 sacks.
-
Caleb Williams didn't play but Tua did for one drive, he looked decent. They brought up the Bryce Young trade yet again. Apparently Luther Burden III (WR) was the last piece they got in the trade. I listened to a few pre season games yesterday while working. Jaxon Dart looked pretty good for the Giants. Next game up today is the Saints vs Chargers. I watched the Chargers in the Hall of Fame game, oddly Trey Lance looked pretty good and so did their rookie RB from UNC. Saints should be giving some playing time to their rookie QB drafted in R2 Tyler Shough. I'm not sure if the Saints are set on which QB will be starting by game 1. Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler . Both should probably get a lot of reps in the pre-season.
-
Probably not a ton of interest in these games I guess from you guys, but I've been watching/listening to some of them. Watching the Bears vs Dolphins now. Bears defense looks pretty decent. The have had a good number of sacks and this dude almost had a pick 6, dropped it of course though.

So what what you consider as a successful season for our two rookie edge rushers? Assuming Wonnum and Jones stay healthy?
-
What did he say? I'm listening to a radio broadcast on Sirius with Kurt Coleman and some other dudes

Legette got ejected!! Wow. Very bad look for him!! Ohh boy will that be a talking point all week long

Deiontae Johnson is a scrub. Sheddur must not have been following his shenanigans in the nfl last year lol

Wednesday practice tweets (joint practice with the Browns!)

And I had been hearing people and podcasters saying Coker was expandable after Renfro was doing well before he got hurt lol -
Wednesday practice tweets (joint practice with the Browns!)
Hoenheim replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
She's implying if Sheddur Sanders does well in the pre season it might force the Browns hand and move him up the depth chart There's been an ongoing situation this off-season with the Browns burying Sheddur on their QB depth chart and not giving him many reps in training camp, despite him outperforming Dillon Gabriel at least (the other qb they drafted 3 rounds ahead of where they drafted Sheddur). -
You must have been excited on draft night lol I felt similar about walker but i felt like I saw a huge outrage when Walker wasn't the pick
