Fair play to anyone that can muster the energy to give a fug about this Draft.
I'm still not over the trade and selection from last year - that fuged us for years.
meh...it happened. it's in the past.
this is such a deep draft they'll be plenty of talent to pick up. gonna be fun, even without that first overall or any first rounder.

Surprised at LG being so low and center being so high, but hell I'll take it.

So much of the time the only way to figure poo out is by fuging things up a lot and fall in your face. But you keep on trying and eventually you'll fall into some good poo.
I'm hoping that's where we are now. I'm willing to give it a shot.

I agree. Hoping for 5-6 wins next year and then maybe another good offseason Jump up to being a .500 football team. Wish others would be more realistic.
You almost make it sound like most in here think we're going to be playoff contenders this year. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who strongly believes we'll win much more than 5.
In fact you're likely to find more who act like we've already lost most game's next year. That doesn't sound very realistic to me.

"they want to run the rock while giving Young the ability to play point guard."
AKA we traded up for a game manager and this is the one narrow pathway to something resembling an NFL offense. Two scores down and this philosophy is out the window

You can't not be impressed with Canales so far. He has the energy and charisma in spades and he knows his stuff about the ins and outs of the game.
Of course what we need to know is how he coaches on GameDays. That's only where it really matters.
He has a tough job ahead of him. But if he can bring back a culture here that is not about accepting losing that's a start.
i know that he's not Cam Newton, but i think what cam did for the morale and culture of the team when he got here is kind of what we're going to see from Canales.
that said, i'd rather have rookie Cam again...the player and especially the presence...but i can see Canales doing some good to elevate the team.

nothing really new, just thought an outsiders view on what has been going on in the offseason was interesting.
excerpt:
QuoteBy every metric you want to measure, the Carolina Panthers’ 2023 season was an unmitigated disaster. They had the worst record in the NFL, yet nothing to show for it because they traded their first round pick this year to the Chicago Bears for rookie QB Bryce Young.
Young’s rookie year was marred by inconsistent playcalling (and playcallers), a wide receiver group that was held together via silly string, and an interior offensive line that was middling at best. This resulted in then-head coach Frank Reich being fired during the season, and a near-complete cleaning of house that included GM Scott Fitterer. Oh yeah, when he’s not throwing drinks on opposing fans, Panthers owner David Tepper is firing head coaches more often than most people change clothes.
To simply put it, new Panthers head coach Dave Canales and GM Dan Morgan needed to get the Panthers off the doormat of the NFL. If this offseason’s acquisitions mean anything, it’s that Carolina might be dusting themselves off, having a quietly very good offseason.
When examining offseason acquisitions for most franchises, it’s important that you see the vision of their 2024 season. What that means is through each signing, you should be able to tell what the focus for your favorite team was going into the signing period and what they’re aiming to do in the 2024 season. For the Panthers, their objective is simple: they want to run the rock while giving Young the ability to play point guard.
....
a foundation and vision is being executed, and for that the Panthers should be commended.
Will this lead to immediate success in year one? The jury is still out, but odds point to no.
However, with these moves the Panthers are off the doormat. Which is a good thing.
it doesn't go into the draft, just talks mainly about how the FA acquisitions give some insight into what they have planned.

Most of the OL, but especially center and OT you do what you can to keep. unless they get way too expensive or they just aren't performing well, you aren't going to let them go. we've been trying to address it in FA and we just aren't going to be able to do that well.
we need to draft one. there's about 5 in this draft that i would feel really good about and another 4-5 that i think would be ok with.
i mean there's some solid choices available with some decent experience even working in zone blocking schemes so they should be an easy fit. don't see why wouldn't be making it a priority.
i'm just hoping that it's just a matter of not wanting to tip their hat towards someone in particular.
