#Panthers will be 21-2-1 when scoring at least 20 pts since the start of 2013.

that's an amazing record, especially when so many new rules have been implemented to tip the scales to offensive production.

this speaks volumes about our defense and our offensive/ball control offense.

what is so strange is that it seems the Panther's total game time from start to finish have probably been ranking really high on the average overall game-time in the NFL.

I would look around Google to find this stat, but every time I click on another site, I have to sign back in here and it's a pain in my butt. So if anyone would care to look this stat up, please, pie and super-thanks.

From the PFF Power Rankings (they have us ranked 3rd)... these stats about Ryan Delaire

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/10/27/pff-nfl-power-rankings-for-week-8/

3. Carolina Panthers

Undrafted rookie Ryan Delaire has a pass rushing productivity of 10.1, best for rookie 4-3 defensive ends. He has two sacks, two hits, and five hurries on 72 pass rushes.

that's a crazy stat. Who's Charles Johnson?

BBR has a bunch more stats stuff posted:

First up:

Wk 7 Touches & Targets:   http://blackandbluereview.com/panthers-touches-targets-week-7/

NOTES

  • Ginn already has 11 more targets than he saw all last season in Arizona. Even during his first year in Carolina, it took him 10 games to get as many chances as he's had through six games this year.
  • Bersin hasn't been targeted since Cotchery returned against the Seahawks.
  • Olsen is on pace for 81 receptions, which is slightly behind his franchise-best 84 in 2014.
  • Stewart is on pace for 309 carries, which would destroy his career high of 221 set in 2009.
  • After turning all three of their red zone opportunities into touchdowns in Seattle, the Panthers converted their first three trips against the Eagles before settling for a couple fourth-quarter field goals.

Also at BBR:   Week 7 Rookie Watch

With Shaq out with an injury, four of our rookies inactive, and CAP getting only 1 snap... it was a quiet week in terms of rookie stats.  Even those rookies who played a significant number of snaps were pretty quiet on the stat sheet.

http://blackandbluereview.com/carolina-panthers-rookie-watch-after-week-7/

  • Wednesday will be a big day for OT Daryl Williams. He could practice for the first time since Week 1, or he could be facing another week on the sideline with a sprained MCL.
  • UDFAs RB Brandon Wegher and S Brandon Marlowe haven’t yet been active.

I've started doing the data entry of the gamebook stats and one thing jumped off the computer screen at me this morning - our sack differential.   Here's what our sacks allowed and sacks made stats look like so far this season.  At some point I may try to compare this with several prior seasons...., but huge kudos to our Oline & Dline for great play!

I did decide to do some follow up data analysis regarding sack differential in recent seasons.  The figures are quite striking.  It seemed good to post the analysis in a separate thread.  You'll find it here:

An interesting article at the Washington Post about the Panthers' 10 game (regular season) winning streak and how unusual it is statistically.  The Panthers are not like most 10 game winning streak teams of the past...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fancy-stats/wp/2015/10/29/the-carolina-panthers-have-won-10-straight-regular-season-games-so-why-cant-they-get-respect/

Here's an excerpt:

The other reason the Panthers haven’t necessarily skyrocketed to the top of the Elo ratings is that most teams on 10-game winning streaks simply look more dominant than Carolina.  That’s usually due to beating the best teams, winning by large margins, or both.  But that hasn’t exactly been the case for the Panthers. While the Panthers have obviously played at a very high level over their last 10 games, relative to all teams on 10-game winning streaks, Carolina rates as below average in terms of both opponent strength and margin of victory

All of this adds up to make Carolina’s 10-game winning streak one of the most unique in league history.  And while Panthers fans may think the team isn’t being properly respected, consider that after being underdogs against New Orleans in Week 14 last year, Carolina has actually been favored to win in seven of its last nine games during this streak.  Much of that is due to the relatively weak slate of opponents, but winning 10 straight games against any NFL schedule is impressive.

I had some free time this afternoon to finish updating my gamebook data spreadsheet.  I'll be posting some of the data that seemed interesting in terms of helping point to what the Panthers are doing well, and also areas where they may still need to improve.

First, here's the table showing details of the Panthers offense by quarter for week 7's game against Philly, along with the season totals.  (Note: this table only includes points scored by our offense, not any defensive scores.)

The Philly game represents the first game of the season where our offense got out to a pretty quick start - it's the first 1st quarter TD scored by our offense the whole season.  Notice how balanced most of the various percentages are by quarter for the Philly game:

    • Highlights start @ 0:43 Fun seeing TMac and XL joking around. Excited to see how the young WR room (and AT) develop this upcoming season. 😄
    • Just a reminder that if you have any type of weird sore that's getting worse fast, don't dilly dally get your ass to a doctor. I'm about the last person to run to the doctor for something but this poo can kill you and it can happen fast. Caught early when it's localized it's a round of antibiotics and no big deal but if it gets in the bloodstream you're in trouble. Former national champion wrestler and UFC fighter Ben Askren is in the hospital in critical condition from a runaway staph infection. https://www.on3.com/pro/news/former-mma-star-two-time-ncaa-wrestling-champion-ben-askren-hospitalized-unable-to-respond/
    • It's not like we get a poll on who should be a star.  She rose to the top for various reasons. I don't think XL is Denzel, but he apparently moves the needle for enough ladies to get this kind of attention. Appeal is a package deal, and she racks up enough points or we wouldn't be talking about her.  It's not like being attractive is a mandatory trait for being a musician/rapper.
