Ant Farms

I never had an official one from a store. I used mason jars. I also had a plethora of other insects and small creatures in mason jars in my room. There's nothing like having 30 anoles in a huge pickle jar to impress all your little bratty friends.

I saw a site somewhere where someone made an ant farm out of 2 clear cd cases.

I think it's because of this...

Non-native species can devastate crops and ecology of an area. Even "US natives" from "out of town" can be a problem.

They also swarm. With a queen breeding more ants, the colony will quickly outgrow any cage you have for them. They swarm and quickly get out of control. Which is why catching your own isn't advised. Ant colonies can easily inhabit 6-10 SQUARE FEET of ground.
