Rudy Gay

Pistons offered Toronto 2 expiring contracts for Rudy Gay and there has been no indication it was turned down as of yet.  I think with the change of regime in Toronto, that they are looking to start rebuilding and could look to "tank" as has been reported recently that there could potentially be up to 6-7 teams that actually try to be one of the worst 4-5 teams in the league.  Toronto is dreaming of a scenario where projected #1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins ends up in their lap and stays in his homeland of Canada.

I think the Bobcats should look to package Ben Gordon and something else to Toronto to sweeten the offer the Raptors have already made.  I think we would be playing for a 4, 5, or 6 seed in the eastern conference and still have a young core of talent if we added Rudy Gay and Al Jefferson this offseason.

*EDIT: 8:45am - Toronto turned down Detroit offer... its a pipe dream

Toronto has declined it saying they wont trade Rudy for nothing....

I dont want Rudy Gay anyway. He is very lazy and just doesnt care about the team or anything involved. I had a friend that played with him at Memphis and he told me they were trying to get rid of him and he was always criticized by the coach, other players, and management. He said Gay would regularly skip practices and even pre-game shoot around. This is not the guy you want to build a team around.

Griz fan here. Rudy Gay is overrated, probably one of the more overrated players in the league. The team was made significantly better by trading him, because he demanded the ball and had a poor fg percentage. He has a very low basketball IQ.

    • I'm only in favor of this if they make it like cigarettes.  Shouldn't be plastered all over the presentation of the game.
    • Yes but this is under the assumption that most of the players are susceptible to this sort of coercing from those type of elements. I think those actual cases are rare. Plus the sportsbooks are more motivated than most to stamp it out because it loses them money. It's just a natural side effect of having gambling at all. IMO, better for it to be legal. Now, I do find it insanely hypocritical(but also typical) that all these sports leagues that once turned their noses up and were very high and mighty about sports gambling are so openly supporting it now that the megabucks are rolling in.
    • Well I should also say another caveat is positional value. You have to be careful violating that. For the scenarios you are describing, those are also things that free agency is for. Free agency should always set up the draft. Improve the roster and then go shopping for things to potentially take your roster up a notch.  Lastly, we are in scenario 2. Our roster is still not good and we have holes at most position groups. We are actually in the "BPA All Day" range.
