  1. That garbage was sixth in the league as far as sacks go last season. The team had 44 total sacks on the season.Five more sacks throughout the season, which equates to .333 sacks per game difference, and the Panthers would have been tied for second. The Panthers averaged 2.75 sacks per game. The league leader, Denver with 52, averaged exactly .5 sacks more per game. How exactly is that garbage?
  2. Making a Murderer (spoilers inside)

Great point. HUGE difference between guilty and innocent. That difference is called Not Guilty.
  3. Rank your Top5 sports team you root for

    1. Alabama Football 2. Carolina Panthers 3. Cleveland Indians 4. Charlotte Hornets That's about it for the teams I actively root for. I grew up close to Charlotte and attended grad school at Bama. Became an Indians fan after watching Major League as a young kid, and my wife is actually from Akron, OH, which has strengthened my fanaticism.Obviously, I root for any US team, whether it be the Olympics, the World Cup, or whatever.
  4. Five teams with insane amounts of Cap space

The flip side of this "cap space" discussion is that those teams have all the cap space because they have, for the most part, failed miserably in drafting quality NFL players. John Clayton wrote a recent article about this. Essentially, because they have failed to draft quality players, they have not had to use cap space to retain those non-existent quality players.
  5. Official Panthers - Broncos Superbowl Gameday Thread

Know how you know the Super Bowl coverage starts too early? CBS runs a five minute segment on the Bills fictitiouslywinning the four straight Super Bowls they lost 20+ years ago.
  6. JR taking the entire organization to the SB

I'm not sure about that. I think all "full-time" employees with the team were offered the opportunity, but I can't say for sure.
  7. JR taking the entire organization to the SB

I was anintern with the Panthers during the '03 season. After beating Philly, Mr. Richardson personally visited every office in the stadium to inform employees that he was footing the bill to send everyone plus one guest eachto Houston for the game. We flew to Houston Thursday and back to Charlotte Monday. Included in the trip were multiple parties (welcome party, pregame party, postgame party), the NFL experience, a trip to NASA, and tickets to the game. It wasa trip for which I will always be thankful and one which made me quickly look past all the "JR is wrecking this team because he just cares about money" posts during the CBA negotiations and 2010 season.
  8. Forensic Justice: Rae Carruth

Get over yourself, dude. Just because OP started a thread about a new show which just so happenedto track the case of a former Panther does not mean he is a terrible fan or person. He didn't say he was posting the information to honor Rae Carruth or anything along those lines. He was posting solely information, which says absolutely nothing about him other than he informs people of things that may be of interest to them.
  9. Feel the rhythm Feel the ride Get on up It's Panthers NFC Championship time KEEP POUNDING!!!
  10. He's talking about the Seahawks internal clock, I'd imagine. If they had an 0730 EST wake-up, it would be equivalent to an 0430 PST wake-up.
  11. Haven't seen Stewartin a while? Have I just missed him, or is he injured?
  12. Hard to overrate four titles in seven seasons.
  13. Making a Murderer (spoilers inside)

I am currently on my second assignment as a criminal defense attorney after also having served as one of the Air Force's 17 senior prosecutors. My wife and I watched Making A Murderer, and I simply do not know how Avery was convicted. I left the above part of your quotethere, because I wanted to address the notion in it. You are absolutely right that a person does not have to prove his or her innocence. Under our Constitution, a person is presumed innocent, and that presumption is overcome only when the Government proves his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, which brings me to my second point. A person is not required to prove reasonable doubt in any way, shape, or form. If I felt confident that the facts of a case contained holes, I could not say a single thing during the evidence portion of a court-martial, and my client could still be acquitted. It is always, always the Government's job to do the proving, and in each case, that is supposed to include proving away any and every real possibility of non guilt raised by the evidence. Unfortunately, I think our justice system is at the point where the fact finders beginthinking the Accused probably did it before they ever hear one iota of evidence simply based on the fact that he or she is in a courtroom.Sad.
  14. Official Panthers - Giants Gameday Thread

The last few games (except the Flacons game) have seemed like college rivalry games for the Panthers. What I mean by that is this: the opposing team is simply playing off of emotion and plays very well initially. However, as we have seen, that emotion is not enough to overcome a superior team. The Panthers have done a fantastic job waiting out that emotion and, more times than not, stripping the emotion away through a big play or two.
  15. Panthers grooming future GM?

I don't know if Brandon would do that, seeing that he is a local boy. I went to high school with him in Stanly County. he has stayed with the Panthers this long why not wait it out for the GM job if that is what is next for him? Although he may not have exclusive scouting experience, I have no doubt he has learned the ropes in that regard. He was a sports junkie growing up. Hehas been with the Panthers for years and worked his way up through the ranks. Plus, he has learned some ways not to do things from Hurney and ways to do things from Gettleman. I would be fine with Brandon taking over after Gettleman and would be extremely happy for a former classmate.
