I think the mocks and "experts" are all swept up in QBs this year. Cam Newton will probably be the first QB taken-around #16 or so, and the only QB taken in the first round. I see Mallett, Locker, Gabbert all going in the second. Remember, a lot fo folks had Clausen in the top 10 last year, and Pike going in the 3rd.

the same person who had Clausen in the 2nd has Gabbert in the first though, and very high at that.

we'll see what happens...

apparently he's super smart, get's good grades and all, strong work ethic, leader in the locker room, arm strength is just below elite and a drive to get better and better. he has been climbing up the draft guru's boards all year for whatever reason, and he is now currently a top 10 pick in most drafts, that was WITH andrew luck still on the board.

here's what scouts inc. has to say aboot him:

Does anyone have that scouting report for Clausen, so we can see where it's right and where it's wrong?

also that gabbert scouting report was done at the beginning of the college football year, as you can see because there are no stats from this year on there.

His strengths and weaknesses mimic Clausen's at ND, in that one. It doesn't seem to do justice to his accuracy though.

Todd McShay had quesitons about his skillset and his overall maturity, mental capacity and had him at 36 on his draft board. McShay also thought he could easily become "another bust from Notre Dame". McShay is sold on Gabbert being at least an above average quarterback.

I can't find the same profile posted above for Clausen though.

The hype about Clausen and Gabbert is focused on different areas. Clausen was that he was "pro ready", so experienced in an NFL system. Gabbert's is that his potential is very high, has great intangibles (a question of Clausen's all along).

Everything I've seen and read today about Gabbert has gotten me believing he could end up being a good QB for the Panthers.

reading Jimmy's scouting report on ESPN, which was touting him crazy high, I wonder how the hell anyone thought he'd go so high.

I suspect a lot of who we draft will be based on interviews... so time will tell where we go.
