Walmart prepaid smart talk phones are about the same price these days to be honest.

They should just make it so everyone can receive welfare, not just poor people or retired folks. It sucks when you're middle class to lower middle class and you can't get any help.

It's all about enticing them.

It's the old give a man a fish vs. teaching him to fish thing.

Most in America these days would just accept the fish, knowing that another is on the way tomorrow. Until there is a harsh reality that there are no more fish, this will continue.

Sure they do.

I just went to a few residential landline providers' websites and looked at their basic monthly costs.

Windstream $34.99 - $49.99
AT&T (Bellsouth) $21 - $48
Century Link "as low as" $44.95

features are extra

now... what makes more sense... that ^^, or going to wal-mart, getting one of the 3 free phones they offer, and getting their $30/month package?

I'm not going to argue about costs of phones, all I was saying is that you don't need the niceties of life when you don't have a job and are taking handouts.

I'm only making 11.76/hour and sometimes get overtime,I'd probably qualify for food stamps but I don't want to be dependent on the dole!BTW,I'm single so that probably makes it harder to get it!

People abusing the system are an issue we need to address but we've got at the same time ensure there is an alternative. So if we double down on work requirements there need to be jobs worth having.

Not sure how you fix that and please don't tax about lower taxes for "job creators" cause we know that doesn't work either.

I didn't argue that. But if you're looking for a job, a potential employer needs a way to contact you, correct?
I put my contact info like 32 times on a resume cover letter.
