Props to Rivera

they always show up after the season is lost........

I don't think the season is lost. Even if we end up not making the playoffs, they way our defense gives us a chance every week is someting to build on

Yup, coaching staff had it's act together yesterday... props to Rivera!

I really like the way the defense is responding.

doesn't matter too much to me when they got their act together as long as they did.

water under the bridge.

only thing that matters is what they do from here on, not what they did up until now.

absolutely.

it all depends on momentum and how they win games.

I don't know... I think we still run too many read option plays. Hopefully it's use is dictated by who we're playing.

Also, I'm not sold on coaching being catalyst for our improvements on defense. I think it's due more to personnel changes. Kuechley in the middle, increased PT of Martin at safety, and Thomas is a lot more physical at CB than Gamble. Our CBs don't shy away from giving big shots and pushing around WRs.

I love the physicality of our CBs. Josh Thomas was the biggest reason why RG3 didn't get in the end zone on that 4th and goal play. He fought like crazy to keep containment and not let RG3 get outside of him. He's definitely a keeper!

I also think it's time to put Martin in as our full-time FS. The range he displayed on that long pass was great. I really think Sherrod has learned his lesson.

One win against a garbage team is not enough to make me change my mind about this coaching staff.

If Rivera maintains the respect of the team and shows improvement throughout the reamainder of the season, it might change my mind about Rivera. He made smart decisions yesterday and what he and McDerp have done with this defense in a year's time has been impressive.

Chud, however? I think, cost us this season. Chud must go. He cannot be trusted. If Rivera keeps Chud, that speaks volumes about his decision making ability.

The answer is that yesterday we played the Skins as opposed to the teams we have lost to which include Atlanta, Seattle, Tampa (away), NYG, Dallas, and Chicago...conceivably other than Tampa every one of those teams is a playoff team....and even Tampa could be a playoff team when all is said and done.

We haven't had the benefit of playing bad teams. Even the teams we played with mediocre records are better than most of the league...such as Dallas and Seattle.

So...the short answer is that we played a team equally as bad as us yesterday and that's why we won. Beat Denver this week and maybe I'll believe differently.

I think we have a shot at Denver. They love to man up on the outsides and leave them on an island with the WRs. If Fox is crazy enough to play that game against Smitty, it has to be exploited. If he doesn't lose his mind, then we need another WR to blow the top off the D - insert Gettis.

Defensively, you have to be physical and bump their WRs at the line. Manning will pick us apart with that bail-at-the-snap crap. Our current CBs live for this type of play. They love to get their hands on WRs and push them around. Keuchly and the LB group will have their hands full with McGahee and that run game, but I think their up for the challenge.

Tough schedule. 5 close losses. Offense hasnt performed like we expected bc of the read option look. No energy up until the last few games.

The talent is here folks. Just got to establish the mentality of a winner.
