We should just do like Switzerland, and train everyone in the use of firearms, and strongly advocate ownership (I think it may be required). They have the lowest crime rate on Earth, so the argument that guns are inherently dangerous is completely false. The real problem is mostly American gangsta rap culture, inner-city gang warfare, and a lack of strong background checks without loopholes.

It would also do our country wonders if everyone was required to serve in the militia (or National Guard if you are afraid of the 'scary' 'M' word) for two years after high-school. I often wish that I had joined the military. I wouldnt have wasted so much of my life fumbling around and getting into trouble. It would definitely be good for today's youth who are not mature at 18 or even 21 years old(I sure as hell wasnt a decade ago), and would instill patriotism and a bond between fellow citizens of every back-ground, ethnicity and class.

Also there's like millions of people on anti-depressants. People that would randomly shoot someone is probably depressed and probably taking meds for it. Correlation=\= causation

The solution isn't easy. But unless gun people take their heads out of the sand and face the facts that restrictions on guns are a proven and neccessary means that must be part of, but not the entirety, of the solution.

This idea of "we must try anything and everything to come up with a solution to this great problem. Provided it doesn't hinder me in anyway to own all the guns I want" just won't fly.

I could take that post and break down why every sentence in it is wrong. But I'm not up to it atm. I'll just say this: actually research gun politics in Switzerland and compare it to the U.S. Practically everything you said is based off misconceptions you have.

A HUGE part of the problem is the mental state of our country. People are soft, and coddled from an early age and, if they ever have any kind of behavioral or socialization problem, they are slapped on some sort of chemical instead of trying to identify the root cause.

Hell, most of the root cause of true genetic chemical imbalances can also probably be linked to the preservatives and other chemicals we are constantly exposed to on a daily basis.

But no. Let's fug up the environment. Let's slap your kids on "behavioral modification" drugs. Let's let the TV, pop culture, and video games be our baby sitters. Consume, consume, consume.

Then, when something bad happens, let's look for a scapegoat other than our own sh!tty human existence and blame things that we can tax, regulate, control, and make even more money for our empire on.

Fϋck responsibility for anything. Let's disregard the obvious bigger problem to serve our personal agendas.

just saying I don't buy that anxiety pills or whatever make you super crazy enough to want to just one day decide to kill people. I see the correlation, more people on pills and more of these massacre shootings lately. I don't think that one causes the other.

Not everyone, but the next time you hear a commercial for one of the new chemical imbalance meds, listen to the guy rambling in the background about all of the side effects. They say that is causes suicidal tendencies. (in already imbalanced people). Along with about 50 other side effects.
