Cam threw a 40 yard pass to shockey in a preseason game while his legs were taken out from underneath him shockey dropped it though that was one of the best throws ive ever seen
I remember that also.
Cam makes throws that no one else in the league can make (with the possible exception of Stafford). The throw to Ginn in the 4th qtr comeback against NO this year was one of the most incredible passes I've seen, and that covers many years of watching the NFL.
Some of the people here don't appreciate what a unique QB we have. Sure, he makes an errant throw now and again, just like any other QB, but he also makes some throws that are flat out jaw-dropping.
I sure Gettleman is working through our roster, evaluating each piece, and talking to our FA's to get a sense of their expectations. He also has to talk to guys like Gross, and Wharton, and maybe even D. Edwards and Cole, to see if they want to play another year.
All of those data points will, in part, determine what kind of offer DG is willing to give Hardy.
I'm glad the FO is being methodical. As fans, all we can do is patiently wait.
"I said before it was the pick they had to make because of their situation but I just don't see it working out. I think 3 years from now when they've moved on from Cam they'll wish they had taken Von, Dareus, or even Gabbert, who is a far superior QB at this time."
Any and all analysts that had Gabbert ranked above Cam lost all credibility with me, and yes, that includes Mayock (at least when it comes to QB's).
I am an absolute amateur, but it was obvious with just a little bit of study that Cam was far superior to Gabbert.
These guys get too hung up on how these guys look throwing the ball in shorts with no pass rush. Turn on the college tape of Cam and then turn on some film of Gabbert, and it was very clear who was the superior player and prospect.
i didn't want any extensions until he could show he can deliver back to back winning seasons.
i really hope this works out. until i see those results i'll still have my doubts.
consecutive winning seasons have to take place. no excuses.
Have to disagree. We don't even know what kind of team we will field this year. Putting it all on Rivera is not appropriate. Gettleman has at least as much to do with where we go from here as Ron.
Everybody wants continued success and yes, we should expect it from the organization. A big part of that puzzle is stability in our coaching staff.
Should Ron fail next year (I don't expect that), then the onus is on Jerry and Gettleman to bite the bullet and eat the rest of the contract. But we had to extend him or it would send all the wrong messages to the players and the rest of the league.
When I said Manning I meant the Manning of now, You a smart one.
As we look to the future, just one more thing to consider...the throw Cam made to Ginn in the 2nd NO game to start the winning drive was one Manning could not make. Frankly, I'm not sure there is another QB in the league with the strength to make that laser throw while being slapped in the face other than Cam.
Manning is great, but I fully expect Cam to be just as successful when all is said and done. Actually, given Manning's post season stats, we should perhaps expect Cam to surpass him.
This will test his resolve to make his career about championships, instead of more individual accolades. Seems to me players have a bit of an ego about the size of their, ahem, contracts in the locker room. Let's see if he buys into what he's selling to the media.
Just to add to the thought above, the one thing Jon didn't discuss was his contract. And unfortunately, that is the one big thing that could get in the way of him continuing his career here.
I flat out would not pay Beason according to the terms of his existing contract. He's a great guy and a huge locker room presence but this is a business and the team has to do what's in it's best interests.
So I am going to hold back some of my Beason accolades until I hear he is willing to show some flexibility with his contract.
