#2890418 Shooting in Missouri sparks protests, looting

Posted by MadHatter on 14 August 2014 - 01:54 PM

The only thing that seems in question is the origin of the physical scuffle and why the initial shot was fired.

After that, it's pretty clear Brown was executed.

The key factor for that initial shot was whether or not the officers gun was reached for.  Frankly I don't believe the officer.  If he'll gun down a kid that's got his hands up, why not lie about the initial scuffle?

I agree with you 100%.  Although I am not going to make any assertion about whether he went for the officer's gun.  No evidence either way and both sides would definitely lie about that fact.

I truly wish there were video evidence in this instance.

You missed my point entirely but that's ok bc you seem to make a habit of doing that and then making backhanded comments. I was speaking more about the mindset he still has which I find refreshing bc he hasn't been jaded by life yet.

There is a big difference in being jaded (which I am not) and admiting that meeting a football player is nowhere near the things that make life worth living.

I don't expect many of the younger generation to understand this yet....as they really don't really know what makes life worth living yet.  Wait until you hold your child in your arms for the first time....and then you will know what is truly special.

You will get there one day.

Now, back to the OP.....I think it is great and cool for a kid to meet one of their idols.  He is and should be excited about the experience.  I still remember some of the celebrities that I got to meet when I was a kid and remember how cool it was.

They didn't live on the whole US as it is today of course.  Yet I'll tell you this, native americans have a 1000% more respectable history than black americans do.  There's a reason they don't have people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton speaking for them.  They did get paid, no matter how small it was, and ultimately they have more respect.

Do you really think that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton truly want racism to cease?  It is the sole reason for their existence and they have made a ton of money from it.  Racism is their gravy train.....while others suffer from it.

So, a cop actually did shoot an unarmed teenager.

so the why is issue in question, similar to the why that is in question for the riots and looting.

Not even CLOSE to a valid comparison.

People are looting because they want some free poo....no other reason.  If it was about the actual situation, then there would be protests...but not looting.

If the kid tried to wrestle the gun away from the officer (like the officer says), then the shooting is completely different than if the cop shot the kid while trying to get on his knees (what the other kid said).  And NO....I am not saying that I have an opinion as to what happened.  I was not there and have not seen any evidence one way or the other.

Pied this yesterday but didn't get a chance to comment. Don't let life sap that youthful enthusiasm, optimism, and spirit my man. I know this sounds sappy as hell but that story was dripping with all the things that make life worth living.

Not sure that I would categorize "meeting a football player" as the things that make life worth living......unless you are still a kid and have no idea what truly makes life worth living.

But, I am glad the OP got the chance and it is always cool when kids get to meet celebrities.

I understand the being angry and even protesting. But the people looting and calling for looting are just a bunch of pieces of poo using this as an excuse to steal.

Obviously not all cops are bad. But to me, there seems to be a growing number of bad cops.

It also doesn't help of course that our police across the country are becoming more and more militarized as well.

If we wanted to put a stop to it, the first thing we could do is stop letting the majority of these officers who unjustifiably go out here and kill innocent unarmed civilians off with a slap on the wrist. Treat them as a civilian would be treated. Charge them with murder, that's what it is.

I am not sure there are a growing number of bad cops.....but possible.

I tend to think that with social media, smart phones (everyone has one), etc. that every instance is now being recorded, posted, and brought to light.  This could be a major factor in why it appears that more and more bad cops are popping up.

Bell played well against a very good Bills defensive line.

Some of you just keep regurgitating the same crap from last season.

And I am not sure I trust either one of their stories....both have reasons to exagerate and lie.

what kind of smack talk is this?

Talking smack is one thing. But at least have an intelligent arguement when you do it.

#2884154 OROY will be one of these rookies.

I actually think Cooks will be in the mix. He will have the opportunity to make big splash plays which will be on espn.

As I said before, cooks is exactly the WR that NO needed ( replace what they got from Soroles) and KB is exactly the WR that the Pantgers needed.

Both teams made the right pick.

#2883936 Ok Internet bro's, so I totally got in this dudes poo tonight

Posted by MadHatter on 09 August 2014 - 01:58 PM

They are just attention seekers.

I have two sisters like that. Since my whole family is die hard Panther fans....... one of them decided to be a Giants fan. She's never been to NY or NJ...never seen them play live.......and only sees them play maybe once a season... still, she is apparently a diehard Giants fan when she sees other Panther fans gathering.....and she wants a little attention.

My other sister is the same way. In '05 playoffs, she was all of a sudden a diehard Giants fan..........then a diehard Bears fan........and then a diehard Seahawks fan. Freaking attention seekers.

My wife's brother is even worse.

Her family grew up in Erie PA and are avid Steelers fans. Her youngest brother decided at 11 yo to be a total dick and decided to become a Cowboys fan.

#2883930 Kelvin Benjamin - Aside from the touchdown....

Posted by MadHatter on 09 August 2014 - 01:53 PM

It's called "Natural Big time WR Skills; something Panther have haven't seen since the hey day of Steve Smith.

Let me be the first to say, I think the Panthers "Ball control offense" will be run by their passing game, as they'll find it easier with Kelvin (and/or the double teams he creates) to pass the ball than run it.

Eventually (and hopefully) of course, they'll be able to run the ball based off their passing results. But I think Cam will have close to or over 4000 yards again.

I think you are right. I actually see our control passing game with KB, Olsen, Dickson, etc will actually set up the running game.

Hey guys, I want to apologize for being an ass in this thread. That's not usually like me, so i'm sorry fwiw :)

No need to apologize venom.

As I have said before...I don't always agree with what you say but your arguements are always well thought out, researched, and interesting.
