Yeah I think there were some rumors that he invoked his no trade clause, or made it clear to the Texans that he would, in order to avoid our dumpster fire back in November.
-
Well we don't know what the price tag will be when trading resumes in the middle of March. Right now we are dead in the water. We need hope or the stadium will be empty. Need to make a big move if not Watson then another superstar QB.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/report-panthers-still-interest-texans-205454164.html If we land Waston then all is forgiven. I'll forget bout Teddy, Sam, the bad coaching, courting Cousins, all of it.

Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins

I knew not to bring Sam here, so that counts for something. 1-0 against those guys. -

Joe if you want Cousins to be our QB then I wish you all the best. I'm leaving until Rhule is fired if he comes here and we trade our 1st round pick for him. -

Ask yourself this question. If Cousins had the ability to win the Super Bowl, then why would any team trade him to us? Answer: He will never win the SB. He's mediocre. -

I hate Rhule so much. He's trying to get to .500. Fat used car salesman. No courage. Should have never fired Ron Rivera. -

He's not great, he's not bad. He takes you to 7-10ish, and you stay there FOREVER because he's topped out. He's as good as he's going to get. -

Never rush for a QB in a panic. You play the long game. You go into 2022 with Sam and if he poops the bed, then we have a top pick in the 2023 draft. Then you grab your QB of the future. Cousins gets us 7 wins or so, and 7 wins the following season, and 7 after that, and we never have a high enough pick to replace him. QB limbo. -

Rhule is crapping his pants in fear that he's going to get fired, so he's going to trade our future away to get to .500. Fire him now Tepper. -

I have not once said this on this site until now. Fire Rhule immediately. Promote McAdoodoo. -
I want o-linemen who pass block well and pick up stunts and delayed blitzes well. It's helpful if they can run block as well, but that is not the top criteria. Protecting the QB so we can air it out, especially in the 4th quarter, is priority one. Trading back takes a trade partner willing to make a fair offer. This draft looks weak at the top, so I'm doubting we'll find a trade partner.

Jordan Gross took up what a decade at LT under Hurney? He made a great draft pick in Gross and didn't need to worry about LT for a decade. To compare, moron Gettleman paid a kings ransom for LT Matt Kalil who couldn't even play the position. But yes overall the Panthers have been RB and LBer crazy, and our blueprint makes no sense whatsoever for a modern football team.

Watson doesn't want to come here and has a no trade clause that he can use to avoid us. It's over. What's worse is that Watson is considering going to the Bucs assuming Brady stays retired. Trading DJ is certainly a good idea assuming he is worth a 1st round pick. You don't want to lose a proven #1 WR for a second or third round pick. Not good enough. But the timing for dumping him makes sense as he'll be useless next season with Sam, or some other washed up vet throwing the ball. Better to have a 1st round draft pick and plan for the future than give a win now WR a huge payday.

When teams run the ball on your defense at will, then you need to do some rebuilding. When you don't have a functioning offense and don't expect to have one any time soon, then you need to look to trade older defenders for draft picks, or let them go into free agency for their big payday contract. We need a GM who thinks this way if that is not Fitt's plan. Some defenders are generational talents, or perfect fits who would be extremely difficult to replace. Our defense doesn't have anyone like that who is looking for a mega-payday at this time. This may sound strange, but we need to get younger on defense imo. The plan shouldn't be to win now as we don't have a functioning offense. Keep the defense young for now, and use the trade draft picks, and compensation draft picks, to build the kind of o-line that any QB would love to play behind. Then hot free agent QBs will see a stone wall o-line and start answering calls from Fitt and not sending him straight to voicemail. This also puts us in a great position to draft a rookie and put him in behind a brick wall of protection. Once we've landed a QB, and the QB has had season to mature in the system, our younger defenders will be coming into their own and wanting their payday contracts. THEN you pay them to make a Super Bowl run. You don't pay defenders who want contracts NOW. That is idiotic.

Riot: Panthers to take a major swing at QB?
pantherj replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
It will be a dark day for the Panthers and the massage parlors of Tampa if the Bucs land Watson.
