  1. To be fair, he has a decent track record of being a coach overall, just not a head coach. But even then he took the Giants to the wildcard before tanking the next season.
  2. You're assuming that we're going to have Jackson and Gilmore... We're going to have to deal some players if we want to be players. Just my opinion.
  3. Horn and Sauce would make for a helluva duo. Can you imagine Jackson in the slot? I can't "hate" it. That duo or trio would be a problem for the opposition.
  4. The problem is that he's frenetic if not just plain erratic. He throws way too many interceptions.
  5. And, let me add, the title is cute and provocative, but we're not just talking "a corner", we're talking about Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner.
  6. It depends on who is available and what our situation is, but, even in a vacuum or not, I just couldn't bring myself to be upset at drafting Sauce Gardner. Dude arguably has better tape than Horn. How could I cry about acquiring a guy who didn't allow a coverage TD in 30 plus games? All that being said, my eyes are on Ekwonu or Evans (who almost certainly will be gone)
  7. He actually said, "I'd just have a hard time drafting a guy in the first round where you don't necessarily like the way he throws." As for Rosen, he probably was the most pro-ready at the time, but that doesn't speak to the highest ceiling which McAdoo seems to prefer.
  8. Within my response was the assumption that we acquire a new signal caller. On an off note, I know that some don't agree, but I personally think that Cam is greater than Sam. Part of Cam's woes last year in my opinion was the fact that he came in mid season. Admittedly, it could be me just blindly seeing and hoping, but at the end of the day I'm hoping that with Benny comes a new signal caller.
  9. I'm hoping that McAdoo's hiring leads to Sam's benching to be honest.
  10. Other than his obvious track record of markedly turning around a 28th ranked Giants' offense. Perhaps the best thing about Ben McAdoo is his eye for talent at QB. Most of us have heard that he wasn't a fan of drafting Sam Darnold, but Anthony Rizzuti brought us even more reason to be hopeful. "That keen eye was first noted back in 2017, when the then head coach of the New York Giants reportedly made a spirited push to select a fella named Patrick Mahomes. According to a report the day after 2017’s first round from ESPN radio host Anita Marks, McAdoo was said to have loved the Texas Tech product and was “very upset” a trade-up to secure Mahomes did not happen." So, he pushed for Mahomes? Smart dude! But let's look even further. You know he wasn't a fan of drafting Sammy, but when you look at who he did want to draft it should offer you encouragement. “McAdoo had Allen — taken by the Bills at No. 7 — at his top quarterback based on his 'high ceiling,' noted beat writer Paul Schwartz. 'His second-rated player was Lamar Jackson of Louisville, who went No. 32 to the Ravens...'" Rizzuti based McAdoo's board in 2018 as: 1. Allen 2. Jackson 3. Darnold 4. Rosen 5. Rudolph 6. Mayfield And as noted by Rizzuti, that's not bad. It's almost extraordinary to be honest. The two he rated highly bespeaks of a recognition of the modern NFL, as does Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. Between McAdoo's eye for talent and resume for turning a bad offense around, the hire is not as terrible as some are putting on. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2022/01/22/ben-mcadoos-keen-eye-for-quarterbacks-could-help-panthers/
  11. They should at least be nervous. Tepper could come in and do a full sweep. Mind you, that wouldn't necessarily be the best decision. At this point, you really can't say what Tepper will do with any surety.
  12. That's possible, but that may be due to politics and making divisive decisions as HC. But, then again, he is still relatively young so the possibility of him getting another opportunity as OC (or even HC) wasn't exactly dead.
  13. This isn't putting lipstick on anything. We don't have to make up narratives that don't exist to cry and whine about Tepper making the decision to let Rhule run things. Being out of a job a couple years hardly makes you an outsider. That's ludicrous.
  14. As for McAdoo being an outsider and unemployed, he was anything but according to his article. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/lists/cowboys-coaches-panthers-oc-ben-mcadoo/ Sure, he didn't have a traditional role, but just the fact that he was respected for his knowledge by McCarthy and Quinn should tell you something. And though they ultimately failed (thank goodness ), the Cowboys had the most prolific offense in the NFL this season. We don't know how much of that can be attributed to McAdoo's pre-planning but he was employed for a reason.
  15. Our offense was ranked 28th with inexperienced guys that never held the position and frankly shouldn't have been OCs. Hell, you had a writer who seemed to understand some concepts better than they did. That's what inexperience gets you. Sure, McAdoo has his work cut out for him, but he had his work cut out for him before and the Giants made gradual improvements. I don't expect us to be in the top half of the league this year, but I think that we can certainly get out of the bottom 25 percent with the weapons that we have on offense, notwithstanding our O-line.
  16. Not buying what you're selling. Basically Tepper is still trying to figure it out. The current state of the team has nothing to do with a conspiracy and everything to do with allowing an inexperienced NFL head coach make bad decisions. It's on Tepper, and not the league. As for Ben McAdoo, he's not an outsider, he just wasn't a very good HC. He's a decent hire, considering our options, who should make our offense at least functional based upon his NFL experience alone. And lastly, owners can pay coaches what they want. There really is no scale per se. Tepper didn't "blow up" anything (except possibly the Panthers' status as a serious destination for the top coaches and free agents, but that's another story).
  17. I mean, that's all good and all, whether you draft the guy or acquire via trade, but you have to make a good pick, develop the guy, and a lot of things must go right. There have been a lot of busts. https://thelistwire.usatoday.com/lists/42-first-round-qb-busts-in-the-super-bowl-era-josh-rosen/
  18. If that's the case, then anyone would have been a bad hire. Given the situation and who was available, McAdoo was the best hire we could've made (even above Gruden).
  19. Yeah, but no one has yet to give me any rational reason why it's a bad hire considering our circumstances or his body of work as an OC.
  20. We have a decent core on offense and defense, even if we have to make some moves and trade a couple of pieces away. Feel free to believe the folks saying that Rhule doesn't know how to draft, but I don't believe it. I think his issue is with O-line and QB evaluation. I think we can turn it around relatively quickly with more competent coaching and game day personnel decisions.
