  1. @RapSheet The #Colts are signing pass-rusher Trent Cole fuging Colts.
  2. @LanceZierlein Got this from someone close to 80: "Dre on owners private jet headed to Indy. He called Gore & they agreed both to Indy. Philly wanted both" So Andre and Gore to Indy. Damn.
  3. The cap can be manipulated, but like anything else in life, only in moderation. Base salaries can be manipulated, but bonuses can't, so at some point you have to pay the piper. Say we made a big signing, 5 years/$50 million with $15 million of it being a signing bonus. Going into year 3 the player has underwhelmed and isn't worth that $10m/year anymore. So you convert $6m of his base into a bonus. Reducing the cap hit by $4m that year but pushing that much into the future. Another year goes by, and because you restructured the deal last season it now costs as much to cut the player as it does to keep him, but you still wanna make space. You're like "fug it, the cap doesn't matter" so you restructure again: $6m is again converted, but now you've also got $2m from the year before. Then in the last year of the contract, that player that wasn't worth $10m 2 years ago now costs that + another $5m from multiple restructures. The cap DOES matter, or else we wouldn't have been stuck beneath two monster RB contracts for so long. If all you're looking at is the short-term though then sure, I guess it doesn't matter.
  4. Heh, I posted pretty much the same thing in another thread earlier today. So yeah I basically agree 100%, and get out of my fuging head.
  5. Broken down further: @RavensInsider Ted Ginn two-year Panthers deal $4.2 million, salaries $900,000, $1.4 million; $1.7M signing bonus, up to $750,000 in incentives each year Of course those numbers don't quite add to $4.2m, so the incentives may not be wholly viewed as "likely," or there is some other wrinkle we don't know yet. Without the incentives the cap hits are $1.75m in 2015 and $2.25m, but I'm guessing the missing $200k comes in the form of workout bonuses or something else easily attainable. The remaining $1.3m in incentives may be considered "unlikely" and thus will only affect the cap the year after they are incurred, should that happen. All that to say, I'm guessing the yearly hits are... 2015: $1.85m 2016: $2.35m
  6. He's taking a roster spot from...no one. There's no downside here. There's gonna be 90 guys in camp, including about a dozen receivers made up of guys like Marcus Lucas and Mike "the hell is that?" Brown.
  7. With the NFL apparently "investigating" some early agreements, it's safe to assume we won't hear anything on Morgan (IF we get him) until 4 pm tomorrow.
  8. Just in case anyone is interested, @RavensInsider is currently tweeting out contract info on a lot of recent contracts around the league.
  9. Ginn and Oher were cuts so we're good unless there's some other agreement we don't know about. It's guys like Maclin and Torrey Smith (who wrote a whole "Goodbye Baltimore" blog yesterday) who are still technically under contract with their former teams until tomorrow.
  10. Nothing that happens this offseason will affect comp. picks in this upcoming draft, that is set based on last offseason. Also, nothing we do today will influence next year either, only acquisitions made after 4pm tomorrow count.
  11. @AdamSchefter NFL: "League office is beginning investigations into a number of reported agreements with clubs. Violations will be dealt with accordingly.”
  12. They can't all be Pro Bowlers. Bersin is fine as a 4th/5th option, just not as a returner. There was no reason to NOT bring him back. Cheap, exclusive rights FA that's already familiar with the team. He's not gonna stop us from looking for a number 2 receiver. Why not let him try to make the team again this season? If he isn't in the top 5-6 guys we'll cut him, no big deal. I hope all the complainers did the same when we brought back Stephen Hill, Marcus Lucas, and that unknown receiver from Liberty on future deals, this is basically the same thing.
  13. Haha that timing is absolutely perfect. Person lookin solid today.
  14. @RapSheet The #Raiders will lock up their center of the future on Tuesday when Rodney Hudson signs. Deal expected to be 5 years, $44.5M.
  15. @NBAdianna Houston's Andre Johnson will be getting cut today per sources #Texans Apparently Johnson has no trade partners, so I'm told he is getting released. #Texans
  16. Cutting Bersin now would be pointless. It saves 0 money and roster cuts are months from now.
  17. It's now Schefterficial. @AdamSchefter Former Cardinals, Panthers and 49ers WR Ted Ginn has reached agreement again with the Carolina Panthers as @josephperson reported.
  18. @AdamSchefter Chiefs' deal with Jeremy Maclin will be worth $11 million per season, per source.
  19. Raiders have a ton of space and have to use up 89% of it. This is gonna be fun.
  20. Like these posts, but from where are you pulling them? Per Aaron Wilson, Colts bringing back Darius Butler.
  21. @mortreport The Eagles' wild ride will continue: Jeremy Maclin plans to reunite with Andy Reid in Kansas City once free agent market opens Tuesday.
  22. Torrey Smith says goodbye to Baltimore in blog form: http://torreysmith.sportsblog.com/posts/1934516/dear_baltimore.html
  23. Don't know for sure, but Voth retweeted it.
  24. Ginn says he "might end up in NC" via snapchat. https://twitter.com/cpanthers59/status/574667802872782849
