Teams just burning their 1st rounders on QBs. Soon all NFL teams have 2 1st round QBs on their roster. The QBs that beat Mahomes in the playoffs or face him in the SB will continue to be non-1st rounders. Strengthen teams in the draft. Then go get the QB if that QB hasnt been found. Building around a QB has always been a fantasy.

Shanahan was out coached by Reid. That's what the game came down to. The Chiefs were prepared for the situations and Reid called a good game. Shanahan started messing up when it got to OT. Shanahan is still among the best in the NFL. He lost to Reid a 2nd time. Wilks studied up and knew the best way to get Mahomes is to bait him out with a cover zero zone & put it on your DL to get to him & let Mahomes make a mistake. It worked for the Bengals & Bucs against Mahomes in the playoffs. Shannahan called a time out to force Wilks out of that defense with the game on the line & gave Mahommes the underneath to run & pass. 49ers problem is Andy Reid is a better coach with preparation, details & situations. Same issue for McDermott & Harbaugh.

Wilks decided to go cover zero zone because the Bengals & Bucs were the last defenses to do that to Mahomes & they won. The DL had to contain & run down Mahomes for the Bengals & Bucs. Shanahan made it easy on Reid & Mahomes forcing Wilks out of that gamble. Wilks did his homework. Shanahan showed championship panic.

You're the HC & in OT. You win the coin toss against a proven SB HC. You choose to take the ball first. Means you need to score a TD & play safe defense or score a FG & play aggressive defense. You defer & can play standard defense knowing you will coach to win on offense & have a possible out if you come up short. Shanahan lost this SB when the heat was turned up. He wasn't prepared for a playoff OT coin toss decision. Called it like a regular season game.

Shanahan should have deferred. We all know he gave Reid the power in OT.
