That’s exactly the point. We will definitively know if Cam can return to form with a line that is above average and a full offseason. If it fails we’re in position for a franchise QB next year. If he plays great then we are back in business. Either way it’s cheap and we don’t have to trade any draft assets to do it. And we don’t have to sign mid level phantom QB scrubs like Jimmy G and Teddy B to multiple year deals.

I think the best bet is bring Cam back for one more year and keep our draft assets. Jimmy G, Minshew, Cousins, all those guys will cost more money, more time, and more picks. And they may do well and win some games but those guys have shown they are not clutch winners. Cam has shown that. I’d rather give him the best chance he’s had to succeed in a while, and then if we suck then we can at least gear up for a better QB class in next years draft. Im also somewhat glad we missed on Watson because I don’t want Rhule to be able to cheat his job security. The man has to show he can build a team.

Cam is the easiest and best choice. He will look a lot better with a full offseason and improved blocking .

If we don’t get Watson I think Cam is very much in play. To be honest it’s possible we field a better team this year with Cam, a rebuilt o-line, and all of our draft assets vs Watson and stripped bare defense, and likely no CMC or DJ.

The peripheral areas of the team are actually really solid. We just need to solidify the offensive line, MLB, and get Derrick Brown back on track.

Bridgewater was Tepper, Rhule, and Brady trying to put their stamp on the team. It failed because TB sucks and it’s a phantom stat padder of a QB.

On one hand its been refreshing to see an owner put his foot down and not tolerate stagnation. But it is alarming that he seems to meddle too much. I feel like he risks stalling necessary growth and road bumps to chase instant success.

Gutting this team of all of its blue chip players and multiple first round picks wouldn't be worth losing for Watson. He's good but we won't be able to build the team that way. And with his downtime its no guarantee he'll be as good as he once was on a new team and new environment. Players aren't always good no matter what situation they're in. Who's to say he would want to leave in a few years? Rhule's not gonna be able to cheat his job security. Dude needs to show he can build this team.

Finally. Rhule and Tepper will be forced to build the team the right way. At least this increased the chance of Cam coming back a good bit.
