  1. and I'm agreeing with you that Bryce's size and skill set is unique for NFL QBs. OP's point wasn't that Bryce is less likely to be injured. It's more that we have no evidence that Bryce will be more plagued by injuries than Stroud over his career. It's impossible to predict so take the best player.
  2. No, I'm just disagreeing with those making up imaginary weights for Bryce despite the facts shown on the scale and the words of one of his well-respected trainers. Here's how I've seen it go down since we traded up... "Will Bryce be over 5'9?" <Bryce measures in at 5'10"> "Ok, well his frame is too small though. Will he even weigh 185?" <Bryce weighs in at 204> "Ok, but he was wearing a hoodie and didn't participate. He must have drank 10+ bottles of water before." It gets old and annoying to see the goal posts shift so much. I wish Stroud fans would just admit they like him more and move along. That's fine. He's a good option at QB. I'd tip my hat and move on as well. Just stop with the exaggerations. Yes, Bryce is small. No, it hasn't affected his performance to date. Those of you thinking his size is such a big deal are going against the majority of NFL front offices that have decided he won't last much past the #2 overall pick.
  3. My comment was directed to this from you: "Again most QBs are going to fall into the 6'2" and over group so I think the data is going to be heavily skewed." I was agreeing that the data is skewed. Now you don't want it to be for this article?
  4. He was likely one of the smallest in college too, right? Hold on a sec while I go google how that worked out for him.
  5. Because they haven't had Bryce Young's talent to overcome it. There ya go.
  6. Correct and OP even stated as much. Even the article addressed that more research in that area was needed. That doesn't mean evidence exists that smaller QBs are at more risk. I think the obvious conclusion is QBs of all sizes have a risk of injury, and size, history, decision making, and chance will decide their fate. How heavily you weigh each of those factors determines which side of this argument you're on.
  7. Perhaps the better question is.... How can I pass up on a talent that has overcome the typical size restrictions to be the best at his position at every level he's played to date?
  8. Despite the data posted by OP showing otherwise, I’m glad Huddlers kept digging and reached the following conclusion:
  9. Good thing he's not 180. College coaches like the greatest one of all time coaching in Tuscaloosa right now? Front offices like the Panthers and Texans?
  10. Do you think Bryce will be used as a battering ram? You're worried that we may limit our offense with Bryce because we don't want him to run for safety concerns. Well, you won't run with Stroud because it doesn't seem he's capable of doing so at the NFL level since he rarely did in college.
  11. You post that you're ok with any of Young, Stroud, or Richardson being the choice, but it seems like you really don't want it to be Young. I will be very happy with either of Young/Stroud, but I think Young is the better QB and should be the choice. I will be very disappointed if we traded what we did to draft Richardson. Especially considering he would be available later and potentially even at #9. Bottom line....if it was a concern of the Panthers and they wanted Bryce to weigh in again at Pro Day, I believe it would have happened. It seems like, at minimum, Bryce's agent thinks they satisfied the concerns of relevant teams at the combine. I am pretty confident Bryce could have taken the hoodie off at the combine and put up a performance similar to his Pro Day. The strategy of his agent was to skip the combine drills, and I can't blame him considering he'll be a top 2 selection. It's like college players skipping meaningless bowl games in an abundance of caution before they make their millions.
  12. He's satisfied with the weight he showed? The Panthers/Texans are satisfied and didn't need to see him weigh in again? He doesn't care what national media thinks? He's not concerned with proving his playing weight to Huddle doubters?
  13. I'd take Bryce #1 at 175. I think he's that talented and believe the NFL is protecting their QBs to an absurd level these days. I've already posted three evidence-backed reasons why I believe his weight hovers around 200. All the "playing weight" posters can do is say "c'mon man it's obvious." Also - what the national media tries to drum up as a big deal doesn't affect my opinions. Hearing Reich say it's something to consider did. If Reich wanted to see Bryce's weight, he'd weigh in if he wants to be a Panther. He may have and it was behind closed doors. I can come up with hypotheticals too.
  14. Imaginary "playing weight" again. I think he didn't weigh in again because he wasn't asked, similar to not running the 40. He's likely taking advice from his agent, and stands nothing to gain by weighing in weekly up until the draft. He's already put up a number he thinks will get him drafted in the top 2. What would be the purpose? Don't you think he'd weigh in if the Panthers staff asked to see it and he wants to go to Carolina?
  15. The only actual data in this thread points to Stroud being more at risk of injury than Young due to weight. It's not definitive, but more convincing than all the gut feels of Huddle posters.
  16. You can do that when you have elite skills/talent. That's what Bryce fans see in his film.
  17. It was reported he had shrimp and salad, right? You're contending he was bulking with that? That's almost as silly as the guy who said Bryce probably drank 10-15 bottles of water before weighing in. If y'all don't want us to draft Young, just say so. You don't have to create reasons with your imagination if you just prefer Stroud.
  18. Yes. I think he hovers around 200-204lbs on a weekly basis. I'm taking his weigh in at the combine as evidence. I'm further convinced after hearing TJ Houshmandzadeh, who Bryce has trained with and seen daily, mention that Bryce weighs over 200 on a daily basis. He's also my height and his arms and shoulders are holding more muscle mass. I weigh 190. I think Young will spend the majority of his NFL career playing at a weight between 208-215lbs.
  19. If you ignore all combine measurements and run with your own hypothetical “playing weight” for Young, then you’re onto something.
  20. First I’ve heard he doesn’t practice. If true, he’s certainly not a good fit for a new staff attempting to build the right culture.
