i think you're right on all counts here.

like i know people want a thing to be true, but it is infuriating that his defenders will pick an arbitrary point in time, declare that nothing else matters except what happens after that, and then ignore things within their own criteria that contradicts it. The same thing happened in his rookie season after the Packers game.

he was terrible at the end of the season against the Bucs and Cowboys. He beat up on a Falcons team that was already on vacation, and looked passable against the dog poo cardinals. He was also completely absent against the Eagles until the last five minutes. This end of the season surge nonsense is just him beating up on Atlanta, and their DC was fired two days later.

The Panthers have invested the world in him for this offense, for what it is, and at it's best it's completely bland and unremarkable. This is in an era where offense is greatly favored. Could you imagine Bryce playing in 2003 (or surviving?) Cost is obvious. I think we can all agree at this point that he just doesn't have the physical traits to do anything in the NFL except run a back up qb level offense and pad his stats in garbage time. It was ridiculous to draft this child first overall. Jamarcus was chubby when he came out but he had an absolute cannon and was built like a mountain. Rosen has the measurable you want and bounced around the league for a while. Bryce probably won't get another contract. I think it's Bryce.

Panthers were kinda getting pushed around up front today, especially Hunt who was playing with that bum foot (ominous) if the center is really worried about coming off the ball fast, sometimes that can lead to inaccurate snaps. Also, snaps just look a lot worse with Bryce because of how small he is. Not saying Corbett wasn't doing anything wrong, but it's kinda the opposite visual effect of how every snap to Cam looked low. Also, I think Bryce tends to over exaggerate his catches, but that just might be again because of how small he is.

Last season but same. looking at how this team is structured, how many elements of it going into today were they just like….hopeful…on? I don’t mean a dropped pass or hold or whatever. I mean entire position groups. What was the plan? They hat to have seen this in the preseason and reviewing tape last season. Were they hoping for just like a golden retriever to join the team the last second? Unbelievable.

It is really hard to lose every game in the NFL but man, I don't know with this team. I mean does Ikey coming back really change anything that much?

this is probably the least athletic group of linebackers I've ever seen in Carolina. They are small and slow. I don't know what Evero is supposed to do out there. Evero wants to be gone; tepper refused to release him from his contract. There is nothing to work with out there.

I'm not sure there's a QB in the league who makes games more unwinnable than Bryce when he plays bad. There's just no way to win a game when Bryce is playing like this. And I'm not sure there's a QB who's had more of them. And not just full games. Think how often Bryce just vanishes for the entire half, or three quarters. You can't cannot win football games like this.

PA left, roll right, multi level. This was bread and butter for him last year. Renfrow on the bottom under Sanders, XL left tight on the line, Tet up wide. Renfrow ducks under Sanders, up and out and I think he's the first read, think this is a post. Sanders leaks to the flat, takes a linebacker with him. Tet is clearing out. XL running a 10 yard cross. Safety 29 looks like he's playing the RB, then Bryce is expecting him to go with Renfrow, but he spins to the OUTSIDE then sprints to take away XL on the cross. You can see in the screenshot he's turned back towards the play and Bryce never even sees him. Hell of an athletic move here to be sure but this feels designed. Little bit of a sloppy route by XL there (you can see him drift up a little bit) and he doesn't attack the ball, but even if he does he's getting absolutely murdered there. This is a horrible read, horrible decision all around. I think this was a designed deke the way that guy turned way then beat someone to a spot. Great play by the defender, no idea what Bryce was looking at here. Best case scenario XL is pee'ing blood tonight. Why this is bad beyond it being Bryce's third year is defenses finally have tape on him. I don't think he put anything useful on film his first season, and the coaching staff was fired anyway. He was benched for most of the first half of 2024, and when he came back had training wheels on until they started playing the dregs who'd quit. And even during his "stretch" last year, he got destroyed by the Bucs who were the only team who saw him twice. That was the most ominous thing. A very middling at best defense got to look at him on film twice and totally shut this offense down. You're either getting better or getting worse and I don't think you can say the Panthers offense got better compared to last year, either personnel wise or schematically (as Bryce really limits what an offense can do.) I think things are about to get pretty bad.
