  1. Odds just improved. Ersson was a fifth round pick by Philadelphia in the 2018 NHL draft. He is sporting a 9-8-1 record with Lehigh Valley (Philadelphia’s AHL team) this year where he has a 2.72 GAA and a .910 save percentage. #PucksOnNet tonight
  2. Not sure about that but I figured if he didn’t want to come back then he wouldn’t be practicing. I imagine if he gets cleared then there can’t be any settlement because that would be an easy way to circumvent the cap.
  3. Hayes scored his first goal for the Wolves last night in a game that the Wolves led 6-2 but somehow found a way to lose 8-7.
  4. For those that have not seen the leaked Stadium Series sweater, see below:
  5. Logo released, this all but guarantees that the leaked sweaters from last year will indeed be the Stadium Series sweaters for this year.
  6. Drury is going to get sent back down and his and Kochetkov’s cap hits are nearly identical. In the new year we’ll be seeing something like: Pacioretty - Aho - Teravainen Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Noesen - Stastny - Jarvis Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce de Haan - Chatfield Kochetkov Raanta Extra’s - Stepan, Kase, Coghlan Injured - Andersen Call Up’s (should injuries occur) - Drury, Lajoie A couple things to note: Coghlan is not waivers exempt and I don’t believe the Canes want to give him away just yet, so I’d expect him to stay with the Canes. Drury is waivers exempt so he provides good depth and can be moved from Carolina and Chicago with ease. Lajoie is not waivers exempt but he does provide good depth, I don’t see anyone claiming him anyway if the Canes were ever in the predicament where they had to keep moving him from Carolina and Chicago. Andersen is still no where near close to returning from what I’m hearing. So the Canes will have some time do some cap gymnastics. That brings me to Kase, I doubt he’s a part of our future. Every time the list of injuries gets brought up by Rod, he’s not mentioned. I don’t think Rod wants to contribute to any long term health issues that Kase is sure to face. I think Kase will be traded and I think Freddie will take his roster spot. So all in all, when healthy… Aho, Pacioretty, Coghlan, and Andersen will be with the Canes (Stepan will be the extra) and Drury and Lajoie will be in Chicago where they will provide good depth. It’s my belief that Kase will be traded.
  7. Another reason that all three goalies will remain with the Canes is due to the fact that we don’t have a serviceable goalie in Chicago to come up and play. Sawchenko is rocking a 3.85 GAA and a .876 save percentage. If the Canes rolled with just Kochetkov and Raanta/Andersen then they would be an injury away (a likely one at that) from having to call up Sawchenko.
  8. Kochetkov doesn’t have to be sent back down. The Canes can keep three rather easily as Kochetkov’s cap hit is less that 850K. I’d be willing the bet the farm that all three remain with the Canes.
  9. KK is what he is, and I don’t even really know what that is. Obviously the 8 year deal was a mistake.
  10. It’s been so long that it’s easy to forget when we dropped a point.
  11. Point streak is at 13 games, they are going for the franchise record tonight.
  12. No chance that either Rannta or Freddie gets traded in my opinion. We saw how important it was to have three goalies in the playoffs last year. With that said, I’d look at signing Jarry or Varlamov in the offseason and moving on from both Raanta and Andersen. Jarry is younger and could make a great tandem with Kochetkov for many years and while Varlamov is older, he’s another Russian goalie which could help Pyotr and he’d be less expensive than Jarry.
  13. Out for personal reasons, no inside info or anything but that usually means a death in the family.
  14. Point streak extended to 13 games which ties a franchise record and win streak extended to 7 games. Final: CANES 4 - Ice Pigeons 3 (OT) Goal 1 - Necas (14) from de Haan (5) and Coghlan (1) Goal 2 - Chatfield (1) from Kotkaniemi (5) Goal 3 - Staal (10) from Coghlan (2) and Fast (9) Goal 4 - Slavin (2) from Jarvis (11) and Burns (19) Notes: - Martin Necas picked up his 150th NHL career point - Calvin de Haan picked up his 125th NHL career point - Dylan Coghlan picked up his 1st point as a member of the Canes - Jalen Chatfield picked up his 1st goal as a member of the Canes - Jesperi Kotkaniemi picked up his 100th NHL career point - Jordan Staal picked up his 10th goal of the season and his 625th NHL career point - Jaccob Slavin picked up his 10th point of the season - Brent Burns picked up his 800th NHL career point
  15. Raanta can’t lose the game if we don’t give them the puck.
  16. Also, shout out to Coghlan. He’s not great defensively but he’s made some great shot-passes off the end boards tonight.
  17. Honestly, just happy to extend the point streak, not expecting Raanta to make a save in OT.
  18. Raanta beating Jarry was always a pipe dream. If Pyotr goes tomorrow then I’ll be pissed because that means he could have gone today. Absolutely no reason to play Kochetkov against Philly and Raanta against the Pens.
  19. Good God… Martinook just got dog walked and don’t expect Raanta to make an important save.
  20. Noesen now playing with Kotkaniemi and Teravainen.
