    Absolutely blitzed Richmond tonight, 5-1. On to the Round of 16. Goals: Shinyashiki, Gaines (from Reyna), Gaines (from Reyna), Reyna (from Ortiz), Rios (from Reyna) Reyna factored in on damn near every goal.

    Probably going 7. This series is playing out like our series against Washington a few years ago but in reverse. They took us to the shed in the first two games then we turned it on once we got home. Hopefully the outcome is different.

    Special teams and goaltending. It’s been this way every year for the past four years. Our goalies let us down in the playoffs, our PP goes MIA, and our PK becomes average.

    If you thought the refs wouldn’t play a factor once this series shifted to Boston then you were naive. Even the best teams in the league can’t overcome poor officiating.

    The sad thing is that’s where we were told we were going to be the strongest. Franco and Ruiz haven’t been what we thought they were going to be, Bronico has been average, Jones is unplayable because his touch is so bad, and Ortiz is too inconsistent. Our best midfielders are a healthy Chris Hegardt, Ben Bender, and Jordy Alcivar.

    I was personally high on him but I know a lot weren’t after the first few games. I’ve maintained that he’s not a 4-2-2. He’s a solid winger in a 4-3-3 where he can get out and run in 1v1 matchups. He sat Yedlin on his ass yesterday.

    Really impressed with Shinyashiki and would like to see a top three of: Jozwiak - Swiderski - Shinyashiki Reyna, Vargas, and eventually a healthy Mello providing depth.

    I think it’s been his plan all along, just was hard without many winger options. He’s a really solid coach. Love his willingness to change things up and I love his transparency.

    Noon games usually get us, hoping the boys are ready to go tomorrow. Boston was bound to get one so no need to be concerned yet.
