  1. Right but I don’t think you can make deals off of if’s. I’d want an extension before giving up a 50 point winger, an offensive-defensive prospect with top four potential, and an early round draft pick. We either need to win the Cup or Guentzel needs to re-sign in order for a trade that consists of Bunting, Morrow, and a pick to be considered successful. Losing in the second round and then losing Guentzel would be a disaster.
  2. Eichel wasn’t a rental, he was in the early part of an 8 year contract and was acquired at the beginning of the season. Trading Morrow for a rental only makes sense if he told Carolina he won’t sign with them. Which I don’t know why he would because he’d have a great shot at being on the bottom pair next year.
  3. I agree. I just think there are other guys I’d prefer to ship out.
  4. Personal opinion but I think those teams have more high end talent than us and I think that’s what got them over the hump. Their deadline acquisitions provided depth. For us, I think we have a lot of depth but not high end talent. If Guentzel doesn’t re-sign or we don’t win the Cup then we essentially gave away a top four defensemen for nothing. I’d be fine giving up a prospect with an extension, without is a big gamble. Ultimately, I think the prospect hoarding comes down to us hoping that one or two of these guys becomes a superstar. I’m holding out hope for Nikishin and Nadeau.
  5. Really don’t want to give up one of our only defensive prospects. Rather give a forward. I’d have been fine giving Ponomarev because FUS is going to chase him down as soon as next year and maybe Koivunen too.
  6. Nothing. Those two are the only names I like that are left.
  7. Really wanted Duclair, hate to see him on Tampa.
  8. Feel like it’s Bunting, Morrow, and a 2nd. Hope I’m wrong.
  9. Did see that one member of the press at the Penguins game is hearing Morrow’s name thrown around the press box. That would suck.
  10. Pittsburgh Athletic writer stating the return for Guentzel “isn’t exactly exciting”… Did Waddell pull off a heist?!?!
  11. No idea but Buch would fill that grinder role that Bunting had and Buch is more skilled as well.
  12. I hope Lemiuex clears, he’s great depth.
  13. So what are we thinking… Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen Guentzel - Drury - Necas Martinook - Staal - Jarvis Noesen - Kotkaniemi - Fast Lemiuex (if he clears) Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Orlov - Chatfield DeAngelo (if he clears) Andersen Kochetkov Martin Raanta (if he clears) Would still love to add another forward like Duclair.
  14. That’s true, Dubas was in Toronto with Bunts. Also without an extension we shouldn’t be giving up high end prospects especially since we’re giving Pittsburgh a 50 point winger.
  15. I’d rather give up quantity and a 1st rounder. Bunting, Suzuki, Rees, and a 1st rounder.
  16. Yeah it’s confirmed at this point, details to come after the game. Hopefully it’s not more than Bunting, a prospect not named, Nikishin, Morrow, Nadeau, Blake, Ponomarev, FUS, Koivunen, and a draft pick.
  17. Bunting is definitely involved, other pieces may not be announced until after both teams finish their games tonight per reports. Guess the GM’s are going to take a break, watch the games, then finalize everything.
  18. Only roster player a part of it is Bunting, other pieces to be determined.
  19. The Fourth Period is now reporting that we’ve acquired Jake Guentzel, waiting on the return.
  20. Looks like we are getting Guentzel, Bunting a part of the trade. It’s a shame but Bunting didn’t really work out here.
  21. Actually kind of shocked we got anything for Webber. Earlier he said he wasn’t going to sign with us so we lost all leverage in negotiations.
