  1. Yeah I get you there. From an optics standpoint, it looks like he's playing favorites on the outside looking in. But from an internal standpoint it's a guy that knows the playbook, started and won (not exactly a shining performance vs. DET ha), so they're okay with it because there's no clear better options that would not compete with their trusted QB reconciliation project 2.0. Maybbbbe Garrett Gilbert? Brett Rypien? Nick Mullens? I mean, ehhr. I think Matt Barkley would've been a good target this past offseason though. But at this point, they'd have to be assured it's a guy that could smoothly transition, take in the playbook, and win a game if need be. I just don't see the options. Fair points, don't mind the back and forth
  2. You're looking at the school in a vacuum. It's the individual from prior experience. Not some impulsive Owl influx. I'm still open to Rhule and don't see PJ as a reason for turning on the guy. It's our backup QB. I mean, we kept Weinke until 2006. And here's not a perfect analogy, but let's say you kept up with someone in your industry that you worked well with and were beginning a start up, are you not going to consider him/her when you get going? Sure, don't let it blind you from making a move for a better option but Grier wasn't that. And I have seen no clear cut obvious backup signing that is in this zone where they looks better than PJ but won't create a weird situation for Darnold. And if Darnold sucks, we're obviously getting a top QB pick next year or a proven vet QB so it is likely PJ's last season here anyways.
  3. A coach and GM collaborate along with their scouting depts with their best knowledge and experience to bring in players to a franchise. It's not black and white. You're mad about us keeping PJ and already didn't like Rhule. If you want to stick with that, then fine man. I just don't really see this PJ thing as a huge concern although I would very much prefer rolling the dice elsewhere. He likes him more than Grier and we may not pick up a guy. And he beat a crappy Lions team starting for us last year. Whether it's because of the familiarity bias or not, I'll hold concerns but I'm not all sunshine and roses w/Rhule. He has a lot to prove in pulling together an offense right now considering the positional talent we have at RB and WR.
  4. We have 2 Baylor players. Again, as many as Western Michigan guys. Now, I can see the pessimism when it comes to Temple. Especially considering PJ still being here when he is quite frankly a fringe backup/CFL starter talent. But, do consider if you were brand new to coaching in the NFL and there were 2 already moderately successful guys that you coached available (Robby and Reddick). Yeah, I think it makes sense to bring them in. Guys that trust you, understand your approach. And the others guys aren't having a huge impact but honestly, Chandler and Franklin look like fine depth pieces. Franklin may even supplant Burris at some point. So really, we're talking Thompson and PJ as the guys that may undeservingly be here. I get you're not a Rhule fan but you're hyperbolizing it a bit. I don't like PJ being here but I don't really have a problem with the others. And we just released Kirkwood.
  5. I mean, he doesn't seem to have a Baylor preference. We have as many Baylor guys as Ole Miss, Minnesota & Maryland respectively. Hell, we've got 2 OL from Western Michigan. 4 Gamecocks. He has a Temple thing (potentially 5-7 players on active), not a Baylor one. And it's being widdled down after settling in. Of course he'll start with the familiarity and what he sees as known commodities that he has experience with.
  6. I'm going with Newton brand entrepreneur/influencer/whatever his shtick is full-time. Long shot Houston
  7. We still have 5 TEs on the roster. That isn't staying put: Arnold Tremble Ricci Thompson Thomas
  8. Yep. Rhule could've drafted James Lynch, Mims, Matt Hennessy, etc. and we didn't so peeps need to cool it on the Temple/Baylor system devotion train. We do have a fair share or Owls but Baylor, not the case. Robby Anderson, Hasaan Reddick, Franklin, Chandler, Thompson, Walker are left I think. That's 6 and a maybe, and what like Roy DT & Johnston LB from Baylor. 8 of ~58 remaining isn't some ridiculous amount, especially when most deserve it.
  9. Ding ding It is Darnold or bust time. If a second reclamation project doesn't work out we have two paths: (1) Draft a QB 2022 (2) Acquire a proven vet via major trade And if it gets to that point, Rhule will no doubt be getting more of a microscope put on him by Tepper.
  10. Let's get ourselves another 7th babay!
  11. Damn missed that tweet in the thread, wasn't in the OP or NFL.com yet. Well then, Zylstra it is. ha
  12. And with Tecklenberg gone, it appears Elflein is our backup plan at center? Yikes.
  13. Saunders and Bayless both gone Looks like this is the WR room: Moore-Anderson-Marshall-Moore-Smith-Zylstra *edit (Kirkwood, he gone)
  14. Anthony Gordon QB was released by KC. I was a big fan in that draft build-up.
  15. lol oh that's a good one for a Tuesday morning
  16. Austin Schlottmann Is an interesting name that someone mentioned in the other thread. C/G, 25, experience, good potential.
  17. Now he looks like a promising prospect
  18. I'm not crucifying, I just didn't and still don't like the moves.
  19. I mean, he could work out nicely so let's go! The whole Elflein and Erving still rubs me the wrong way. I feel like we could have curated a much better OL than we did but I can't complain much with the rest of the roster and what they've done.
  20. There was this ridiculous dude that used to sit in section 336. He had cut two jersey's in half and threaded them together--one Clinton Portis Redskins and one Panthers Peppers. He was also always crazy drunk. We called him the Peptis guy. Pretty sure he was routinely thrown out.
  21. Cutting guys and Fit & Rhule want their attention on cuts around the league. Could be strategizing what we need as a team right now. Figure that out before trotting a bunch of guys we won't move forward with back on the field.
  22. ^^ What is with the random posts that have nothing to do with threads lately? Not even trolls, just people posting random things that have nothing to do with the discussion. @LinvilleGorge @rayzor It's like 10 year old fans learning how to use an ipad found the huddle.
