Honestly, she should be on a plane back to her family right now. If she’s this convinced about her mental status i’d put her on suicide watch(they probably already have) but ultimately the US team should put her on a flight home since she won’t be competing. No point in having her stay in Japan. There has to be something else behind the scenes though. She keeps worrying about injury after she didn’t stick one landing. It could be as mild as a case of the yips. At the extreme I wouldn’t be surprised if we see her retire.

I think it runs deeper than that. I think she lost a huge amount of confidence after that first day and tried way too hard to blame herself when she probably just could have gone out there and had fun. I haven’t seen much of gymnastics besides the highlights but there was no fugging way anyone was beating the Russians. The only negative I take from it is it gives the US team an excuse. Which now she will have to shoulder, all the blame from within’ and without. I hope she does well in the singles if she competes but she’s painted herself into a corner on that too.

Ya, they were already on the cusp at the end of last season. I expect a full push from their young core this season.

Last day before FA, if dougie doesn’t sign I doubt we’ll see him back. Don hinted they wouldn’t wait. We’ll see.

Now that players can benefit from their NIL(or what ever it’s called) I believe we are going to see all the big schools align into one conference and negotiate much more akin to an NFL deal while nearly every other school is going to drop off the radar nationally. NCAA gotta protect them profits somehow.

I still we are trying to go gangbusters for a top dollar goalie, we still got a few days left in trade territory. Waddell has never given me anything to doubt besides getting rid of Ned but we are still in the middle of that saga. But we have no pieces we’d want to trade now. I’d love for us to go after Grubauer. Get Mrazek to take a team friendly deal, get grubauer on a win now short term deal. Unfortunately Colorado will probably lock him up in the next day or two and they are basically team wise in the same boat as us. So we have little incentive over them. Removing Ned from the equation due to sample size Gurbauer and Mrazek are the two best goalies in FA this year. That doesn’t bode well for us on either front.

Isn’t basically anyone who is anyone moving to the SEC? I heard rumors Ohio state and Michigan are moving there too. It would make things interesting cause no more near perfect records for the top teams if they all have to compete against each other.

Probably won’t have Svech signed until late august by the sounds of it. Don says he isn’t worried. It’s just a matter of getting FA done first. Just listened to the goalie part of the clip again. It really sounds like we are trying to get a high dollar vet that will only be around for a season or three, with probably Mrazek or Bernier backing up. I feel like we might not even end up signing Bernier.

I love the sports like you said that we don’t get to see. Frankly I don’t give a crap about track(besides relays, though I do like “throw” field sports though), gymnastics, Basketball, baseball, soccer… all the “Major” sports. Over hyped, I often find myself rooting against the US to enjoy the challenge of an underdog athlete/team. I love the little known ones, fencing, taekwondo, rowing, canoe, archery, *****, etc And don’t even get me started on boxing. It’s probably the singularly best thing about the summer olympics cause no world champs/pros are going to risk losing a match so it’s all semi-pro’s and amateurs truly embodying what the sport is suppose to be like. Im more of a Winter Olympics person myself though in the end. I watch them religiously. Summer to me is outside of boxing, if I catch it cool, if not I’ll see a replay sometime soon. edit: apparently s k e e t is censored. That’s a first in a while.

Defensive and OL gel are my biggest questions. Can’t even begin to get into whether Darnold will have success if our OL isn’t solid.

Again, it’s this is not the signal of a rebuild. None of these players on face value will be playing for this team in 1-4 seasons at least. The only ones I could see getting a shot at the roster this season or next are the two Fins we took in the second round. This isn’t the NFL where all these guys are looking at a roster spot this season. Our core is still completely intact. Minus the obvious dougie, Martinook, McGinn, Svech contracts this off-season. I bet we’ll see Jarvis make his debut too. Everyone is really high on him. That leaves us with only a few holes to plug. If Ned wasn’t traded nobody would be freaking out right now. All these players are to get them into our new AHL partner and start building for 3 years down the road when a lot of this cores contracts are up outside of Slavin. Aho is up in three as well as Rod. So we basically have three years to win a cup. Don is already planning out another young core for when that time comes. So it’s more pre-emptive than a rebuild. If Aho or Slavin wanted out. That’s when you call it a full blown rebuild panic time. Obviously if svech isn’t signed soon I’m gonna be annoyed. But he’s RFA with no arbitration so it’s only a matter of time, we just have to tender him.
