  1. I could see that. One thing: The Bears system doesn't really fit Newton's skill set much better than the Patriots system does.
  2. Hadn't thought about it much prior to now, but I think Getzenberg is right. The new staff's emphasis on OL versatility does likely mean Little is gone. Hell, the dude can barely play one position.
  3. There's no suggestion in this post that Newton is coming back. There is, however, the possibility that he doesn't stick in New England.
  4. For the record, the teams most commonly speculated to be the "front runners" if any Watson trade occurs at this point are the Eagles and Dolphins.
  5. Decent article: No obvious answer a left tackle, but the team has options Getzenberg thinks the depth chart currently has Cam Erving at the top, followed by Trent Scott and Brady Christensen. She adds this note about Greg Little: The Panthers have had Little play a bit at right tackle in practice, but he is truly just a left tackle. The team drafted him back in 2019 to be the left tackle of the future. For a variety of reasons, it has not worked out. A significant amount would have to change for him to be in the conversation to start. His lack of versatility in terms of position makes his future with this team worth watching. Wasn't aware the team had tried him on the right, but it sounds like it didn't work out. I'd say we can probably put the "try Little at guard" idea to rest. She also mentions that Dennis Daley is more likely to get looks along the interior or as a utility backup.
  6. He thought he did. In truth, that phrase probably sums up Marty's career pretty well.
  7. I think it's very possible he will go. Person is more optimistic on that front than I am.
  8. If you're a guy in the last year of your contract and hoping against hope for an extension though, tanking is off the table.
  9. That's a bit of a hot button topic around here
  10. I know that's a huge sore spot for you.
  11. Here are the teams with the least space... No shock who's at the top, but also noteworthy that every other team in our division is on that list.
  12. Possible. One of the things I like about this year's draft though is that I feel like even if guys don't wind up being starters, they may not necessarily be complete busts. Take Brady Christensen for example. Even if he's not our left tackle of the future, he could still be a great guard. I'll take that over a Greg Little who's likely a complete washout.
  13. That's kind of apples to oranges. Comparing two players at the same position taken at about the same spot is perfectly valid.
  14. Side Note: Breer also says we're currently 10th in available cap space. This will change given that we haven't signed all of our rookies yet, including our top pick. Penei Sewell signed his deal today, so the players taken both before and after Horn have signed (per Person).
  15. Albert Breer thinks it's possible there could be after the team's signing of Brian Hoyer. From PatsSTH1969 (@PatsSTH1969): Out of the four quarterbacks on the Patriots roster (Newton, Stidham, Jones, Hoyer), which is the worst system fit and why? Pats ’69er, I feel like this is a trap! Obviously the one that doesn’t fit with the others is Cam Newton (though I could make an argument that Jarrett Stidham’s background matches up cleaner with Newton’s than Mac Jones’s or Brian Hoyer’s), and so I think what you’re asking is whether Hoyer’s return to Foxboro could mean the end for Newton there. It might. It’s easy to see how, if the Patriots really liked what they saw from Jones at rookie camp over the week, they might think it’s time to get him a veteran sounding board in case he winds up starting—on the premise that Newton wouldn’t fit as a backup. Or, if you think about it, it also could set the Patriots up to give Jones a true redshirt year, where if Newton were to get hurt, they wouldn’t have to press him into action. And then, guess what. You’ve got your answer on why bringing Hoyer back makes sense. He will be, at baseline, a good resource for the No. 15 pick, as a guy who’s spent much of his 12-year career in Josh McDaniels’s system. From there, he’d work in either scenario. Or maybe he won’t make the team. By the way: It’s May. I wouldn’t overreact. 5/19 Mailbag
  16. I'd say Arnold and tremble are probably gonna be pretty good competition.
  17. It's been reported by multiple sources that Marty wasn't on board with the rebuild last year, for obvious reasons (saving his own ass).
  18. I haven't looked at a draft and immediately thought "wow, this could be good" since 2017. Last year did give me some hope. It's nice to be able to feel hopeful about drafts again rather than just going into them thinking "man I hope this doesn't suck".
  19. Obviously you can't predict who's gonna get injured and stuff. FYI: In the article referenced in the other thread, Person says he thinks Ian Thomas has a good shot at making it. I expect a lot of people will disagree.
  20. For anyone wondering, the other guys on the roster bubble list were Trenton Cannon, Brandon Zylstra, Bravvion Roy, Troy Pride Jr and Stantley Thomas-Oliver. The reasons behind each one are pretty much the same; a number of new faces acquired at their positions could put them in danger.
  21. Obligatory Bills War Room video... It doesn't hurt as much as it used to now that Marty's gone and we got Dan Morgan.
