  1. Our old buddy Ron pretty well owned Arians.
  2. If you really want ant to talk about paying attention to someone's own words, you should go back and look at the comments Fitterer was making during last year's draft process. He was pretty clearly lobbying for getting a quarterback via the draft rather than just sticking with another veteran project. As to Darnold and the others, aagain, several different sources have confirmed Rhule ran the QB decisions. Would you suggest that people like Charles Robinson, Joe Person, Ellis Williams and others are all collaborating on their story? If not, then I guess the similarities in their reports are because that's what happened. I get that you don't want to hear these thy because they don't suit your narrative, but they're still true.
  3. The full article by Ellis Williams that Bleacher Report is quoting can be read here: Support to retain Steve Wilks is growing Excerpts... Five games through his 12-contest tryout, Wilks has impressed Panthers leadership enough that he is expected to be seriously considered for the full-time job after the season, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation. The Panthers (3-7) are 2-3 under Wilks, with both wins coming against the NFC South. Behind a punishing offensive line, the team reestablished its run-first identity. Carolina is averaging 159.5 rushing yards per game over the past four weeks. Most importantly, morale in the building is up. ... There is a sense the Panthers are already laying the foundation for next season with Wilks rather than enduring a lame-duck interim. If Wilks is not chosen as Carolina’s next coach it is possible the team would prioritize keeping him on staff, per multiple league sources. ... Forecasting what an NFL owner will do when it’s time to name a head coach is difficult, as Colts owner Jim Irsay proved last week by naming Jeff Saturday the team’s interim head coach. But Panthers owner David Tepper is expected to make a traditional hire. Wilks checks a lot of the head-coaching boxes Tepper seeks. He’s a firm leader who commands the team like a CEO. According to a league source, Wilks is a strong communicator internally with players, coaches and the front office, and he handles the media well. Couple things... Players are gonna support Wilks. Truthfully, a lot of interim coaches get player support but it doesn't necessarily translate. The bolded part above makes a lot of sense..as long as the team gets buy in from a new hire and doesn't try to force it. I get Williams point, but I don't know that I'd use Irsay as an example of what any other NFL owner might do. What I don't get though is what he means in this context by "traditional hire". Does Williams think he might be moving away from the "young offensive mind" thing? (lotta people on here are likely to go apesh-t if he does)
  4. That you would actually expect a GM (or anyone honestly) who doesn't have full control to come out and publicly say they didn't like a player the team acquired is frankly pretty funny.
  5. Why would a guy writing an article for The 33rd Team website be smokescrrening?
  6. Guys who were meh in college sometimes becomes NFL stars. Guys who were superstars in college frequently become NFL busts. Personnel work is definitely not an exact science. It's an extremely difficult job.
  7. Pretty sure he doesn't wanna coach again.
  8. For whatever you think of Levis, anyone dumping on McCreight or bagging on him for being a "former" scout hasn't bothered to look at his career (and might not get it if they did). It's a dumb attitude to take. Sean Payton is a fired OC too.
  9. ...and it's not who you'd expect. From the article... I did an impromptu poll with four NFL scouts I trust, and three of them told me he was the best quarterback in the draft. One NFC scout told me, “This [season] is an audition for him to go to a poor NFL team. He proved he can take a beating and keep getting up.” Added another NFC scout: “It is a miracle that he keeps playing every week after all of the hits he takes. He is more banged up than people think — much more.” ... Levis has all of the tools NFL teams look for. He has the arm, size, toughness, intelligence and enough athletic ability. He runs an NFL offense at Kentucky and can manage a huddle, which many people discount. When studying Levis, there are some ugly games; that has been the history of Kentucky football. As an evaluator, you have to look at what surrounds the quarterback and who they are playing week in and week out. ... Almost every time Levis steps on the field his teammates are inferior to the ones on the other team, which is a big deal. If you are the quarterback at Alabama you are protected by future NFL offensive linemen, you are throwing to future first-round draft picks and you are handing off to NFL-type running backs. ... I have been in NFL draft rooms where the discussion around a quarterback from a top-5 school is seen as a negative because they never get hit and never feel stress. An NFL game is all stress and conflict. Levis will be more prepared for the NFL than if he played for Alabama, Ohio State or Clemson.
  10. Where the hell did you get the idea that people want to get rid of Campen? The vast majority of this board is praying we keep him.
  11. Get rid of a quarterback and you can sign, draft or trade for another one the following season. Fire a coach and you have to fire his assistants, remake the entire system, evaluate whether the guys you have on roster will fit the next coach and a dozen other things.
  12. It happens on an annual basis. Brian Daboll, for example, had multiple interviews last offseason and chose the Giants as his best option. Some coaches decline even to be interviewed. When Rhule was looking for staff, Pep Hamilton was offered an interview but turned it down...and decided to stay with the Texans. Yes, guys who have options will take the better option. Not sure why that would surprise anybody.
  13. Can't say Matt Rhule never gave us anything, right?
  14. Pretty much. I mean there are certainly people who don't like Baker, but I haven't heard of anybody who thinks he's fake...or just downright weird
  15. I once heard that was a good way to get rid of jetlag
  16. I don't think Mayfield is fake anything. He may be unlikable sometimes, but he is who he is. The stuff going on with Wilson is about way more than just his on-field performance.
  17. Apparently not Those times when Matt Rhule talked about how great some guy was doing shortly before releasing them are really confusing now
  18. Wilson's fall from grace this season has been borderline biblical. I know there was some discussion that we should trade for him a while back but thank God that didn't happen.
  19. We already do. Something like three or four different sources have all said the same thing.
