Fitterer doesn't guarantee Quinn. You could very easily see Fitterer stay as GM and Dorsey get the head coaching job. As it turns out, Fitterer also has ties to Payton but I don't see that happening for other reasons.

You can also add that Payton would require giving up significant draft value to get him. As noted previously, the one name that none of these red flags seem to apply to is Raiders DC Patrick Graham.

That wasn't the only reason. If you look up old articles about him, you'll find there were significant complaints from players, especially veterans. They hated him. That's not really a surprise when you talk about authoritarian coaches, especially these days.

So was Gruden...for a little while. Harbaugh has the same issues. It's why he's better off as a college coach. He can cycle through kids in three or four years before they get tired of his bullsh-t. Coaching paid adults is a little more complicated.

Jourdan Rodrigue reported that Marty Hurney and Ron Rivera were ready to offer Newton an extension. Tepper nixed it.

Winning...and lots of it. That's going to be extremely hard to do with the hand he's been dealt.

His "negotiations" with the Vikings would say otherwise.

I don't think he was given a fair shot in Arizona. Honestly though, the situation he's in with the Panthers right now might be just as bad. I'll wait and see and I absolutely hope for the best for him, but he's got a really steep hill to climb.

If you think of Matt Rhule was a nightmare of a control freak for people to work with, wait till you see Harbaugh. Hell, at least the players liked Rhule. By his fourth year at San Francisco, his own team started to hate him.

I don't know that the Jack Easterby comparisons are fair. Drummond doesn't seem to be that kind of personality. Now with that said, if Tepper is looking for advice on anything football related, Drummond isn't really qualified to give it.

He's a former communications guy who Tepper elevated to Vice President of Football Operations. He's also one of the three people responsible for hiring Matt Rhule (Marty Hurney and David Tepper being the other two).

Fair point. I don't think Tepper is exactly well liked in the fraternity though. Heck, he's no longer even the richest owner.

No, he's not. And while I do think it's good for him to have to face the questions, it's correct to say he's terrible at it. His press conferences have an unfortunate tendency to devolve in one way or another.

To be fair, the league was already pretty pissed with Tepper over the contract he gave Rhule. I think at least some of the owners have started to believe they made the wrong decision letting him in the club.

The first halfway decent offense we faced that wasn't starting a backup quarterback damn near scored at will pretty much from the first quarter on. For whatever you may think about Wilks, he was right about Snow.

Simple answer: He trusts the wrong people. He doesn't know jack sh-t about football himself, which would be okay if he surrounded himself with people who do. Instead, he's trusted Marty Hurney, Matt Rhule and apparently Steven Drummond.

And that's the thing... For the folks who think it's too strong to say we owe him an apology, okay but I'd still say we at least need to acknowledge that he was right.

I get the Easterby comparisons in the sense of undue influence by someone who doesn't really have a football background. But with that said, I don't really think Steven Drummond has a Jack Easterby kind of personality. As others have said, the true problem is Tepper. He's already shown a tendency to trust the wrong people, and it sounds like that still has yet to change.
