  1. I keep going back to this quote and quite frankly I still find it amazing that he said it. It's almost comical to think that he would say something this flat out stupid. You really can't make this stuff up.
  2. Oh, there's absolutely something wrong with Sam. Baker is harder to judge.
  3. As I think they should be. I absolutely want to see what they can do when not saddled with Matt Rhule.
  4. Here's the big problem I have with that idea. If you only fire Rhule, then the choice of next head coach is likely up to Fitterer and Morgan. If you fire both Rhule and Fitterer, then both the next head coach and the next GM are going to be picked by David Tepper. (and whatever sycophant he brings along to tell him he's the smartest man alive and his choice is absolutely the right one) Do we really want to see that scenario play out?
  5. I remember someone who had an inside connection saying Tepper genuinely believed it could happen. It was pointed out to a lot of the people defending this idea that in the college scenarios, there was actually a big jump between year one and year two. That of course didn't occur with the Panthers.
  6. I genuinely don't want Payton. Besides the likely ridiculous haul that we would have to give up to a division rival, Payton is gonna want complete control. No way do I wanna see that model kept around. That plus successful guys rarely duplicate their success in new organizations.
  7. He kept Marty around a couple of years too long. Seems to be a thing with him...
  8. It's possible. Kind of hard to picture him being a hot name given the utter failure with the Panthers but all the reporting seems to say that's what he is. College football is definitely a different world.
  9. And Rhule would be entering into a new contract with whatever college hired him.
  10. Technically that's the end of somebody else's Week 2. Our Week 2 is over.
  11. Not sure how that would work, but I think Petrino did it out of pride as much as anything else. Even if everybody knows he would ultimately have been fired, he can say he left on his own terms.
  12. It's actually Week 3 of Year 3. Week 2 ended yesterday.
  13. The DC we faced yesterday is likely to be on some short lists for head coaching opportunities coming up.
  14. That may indeed be true. The Watson pursuit wouldn't exactly be evidence of impeccable character.
  15. I wouldn't say I don't care at all, but I would have to admit the Tepper / Rhule era has drained away most of the sh-ts I had left to give
  16. I see this as one of those cases where you have to define your terms... Is Jerry Richardson a more successful owner than David Tepper? At this point, going by the respective win-loss records of the teams that came under them, yes he is. That, however, doesn't mean he was a good owner. That record is still just 500, and while we did have two Super Bowl appearances, both were losses. The biggest issue? He put way too much trust in the wrong people; specifically, people that were loyal to him as opposed to ones who were actually competent at their jobs. He is also, of course, a horrible person; something which matters far more than any statistical records. So no, I don't miss him. I don't feel sorry for him. I wouldn't want him back. And I don't wish things had ended differently for him. Truth be told, he probably got better than he deserved. As to Tepper, he is thus far a less successful owner than Richardson was, but there is still time for things to change. (finding people that are actually worthy of his trust would be a really good start)
  17. I'll grant that things can change, but looking at the schedule right now it's hard to imagine more than three to four wins.
  18. I think the analogy I'd go with in this case is that it doesn't matter how much you work on the car if you still have a sh-tty driver
  19. That preseason Con Air video was hilarious, though
  20. Pretty sure college teams don't have to wait for him to be fired. Bobby Petrino left the Falcons on his own to take the Arkansas job.
