The same thing happened to Gruden. Mike Zimmer too. Honestly, I won't be surprised if it starts happening to more "authoritarian" types with younger players. The info is out there to read about.

Biggest worries about a coaching search... - David Tepper needs to stay the hell away from the entire process; I seriously doubt he will though, which sucks because when it comes to football, everything he touches turns to sh-t - If he insists on a "splash hire", things could go really really bad; we'll go out and waste money on a big name whilr likely missing out on a much better option - a lot of attention will be given to uoung offensive coaches which means some older, more experienced (and frankly better qualified) coaches could be passed over Qualifications and experience matter, but too many get caught up with the hot name. That's why a lot of people who go looking for the next Sean McVay instead wind up finding the next Joe Brady.

Same. Addressing the premise of the question though... Black coach? Sure. Bieniemy? Eeehhh, not so much
-
If it really were just a power struggle with the ownership, I wouldn't have any issue. The reasons things started going downhill in his fourth year was because, as mentioned, a load of his players absolutely hated his guts. In Harbaugh, you're basically getting offense minded Mike Zimmer on steroids.

So you saw the disaster yesterday, what FA are you bringing in?
Mr. Scot replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
The problems we have aren't something that free agent acquisitions can solve. -
Yeah...it wasn't just the loss. How absolutely terrible, uncoordinated and unprepared we looked on both sides of the ball is way more worrisome than the final score. I mean, if you want to throw a "what if" in there, I'd be tempted to go with "what if the defense didn't lay down like a welcome mat for their running game"

Not really a fan of going with defense either but that's where some of the best candidates are probably going to be coming from. Them and Bisaccia, of course...

Demeco Ryans is interesting. Jonathan Gannon too. Flores I'm honestly not that certain of. I think fans overrate him somewhat. I like Dorsey (and he's got the Greg Olsen endorsement) but it still seems too soon for him.

Fair point In all seriousness, Rhule is capable of saying things that sorta kinda make sense in his pressers. And heaven knows he can give a motivational speech. Having good players, giving rousing speeches and employing assistants who take care of the true legwork is enough to be successful at the mid-tier college level. In the NFL? Not so much

Possible. Remember he was supposedly a shoo in to get one of the jobs this year (Vikings I think) and then suddenly they just said "eeehhh...no". Harbaugh tried to claim that it was his decision but most people saw that as bullsh-t.
-
Gruden won a Super Bowl too. It's what happened after that... Basically, if you want a guy who can be successful for maybe three or four years, Harbaugh works. If you're hoping for something longer than that though, you might be disappointed. And if he doesn't win a Super Bowl in that window (like he didn't in San Francisco) youll have wasted your time.

Who's seat is warmer - Phil Snow or Mike Siravo?
Mr. Scot replied to Coreyl90's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rhule is very closely tied to Snow. Wherever he goes, Snow goes with him. And anytime you hear him talk about Snow, Rhule always credits a large share of his success to him. -
In the course of your career experience, you've probably met one or two management types who can randomly spout off some really smart sounding statements. Yet they don't seem to be terribly successful, and you find yourself wondering why. The reason? While they might sound smart, but they might not really be smart. They know the right things to say and all, but in their mind they haven't actually put it all together. That's the impression I get of Matt Rhule.

I see zero possibility of Matt Rhule firing Phil Snow -
That all sounds cool...till you dig a little deeper. Multiple sources say 49er players really hated Jim Harbaugh The story mentions Ian Rapoport and Deion Sanders among those echoing complaints about Harbaugh.
-
Not deeply yet, but there's time. I'd prefer Wilks as interim but I get the feeling it'd be McAdoo. As far as getting help, the most obvious name is going to be Kevin Colbert.
-
It's worth asking why he was let go. And if you read the stories, it's not just because the 49ers leadership were dumb.
-
That's another one I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Word is there's a reason why nobody will hire him.
-
I'm not high on the idea of Jim Harbaugh as a long-term prospect.. The "always angry / it's never good enough" persona can sometimes be successful with college kids but doesn't work so well with adults. That's what did Mike Zimmer in with the Vikings. Back when he was with the 49ers, by something like his fourth year, many of Harbaughs players had come to despise him.
-
A lot of the guys I thought would be really great candidates wound up getting jobs last year (Nate Hackett and Kevin O'Connell among them) The one name I still had left over from last year was Rich Bisaccia. I was starting to look up Brian Callahan but I don't know that I have enough info on him say for sure yet. I'm not a big fan of Byron Leftwich for Kellen Moore because neither has a body of work that I think is big enough.
-
You're not the only one asking...
-
Uh huh

When a team makes more of those kinds of mistakes than they should, it shows lack of preparation. And that's on coaching. Also pretty sure nobody keeps track of "should have won" anymore than they do" moral victories", "what if this had happened instead" or any other conjecture. Likewise, I've never seen a head coach get credited for games they might have won or could have won if things have just gone a little differently. If that makes you feel better about Matt Rhule, go for it. Doesn't really work for me.
-
I saw the story yesterday where they went and asked fifteen "team leaders" to make sure they "had Lance's back" if things went bad. I mean, if you've got to do something like that...
-
Ask any NFL player, regardless of how many years they've played, whether or not they'll look better with more reps or not. As far as the batted passed, that was a particular emphasis by Stefanski. He had told his D-line guys to make sure they got up in the air a lot specifically to try and do that because he expected quick drops and was familiar with Mayfield's typical trajectory. Look to me like McAdoo probably made some adjustments on the dropback to account for that because we didn't see it so much in the second half (if at all).
