Cabot doesn't work for the Browns and has no need to "drum up interest". Hell, it's probably better for her job if he's sticks around. And while it's probably true that all the main guys are in unison when it comes to Corral, there's a lot less likelihood that's true when it comes to Mayfield. Both Cabot and others have mentioned that Ben McAdoo wasn't exactly the biggest Baker Mayfield fan when he was drafted (adding that he wasn't really the biggest Sam Darnold fan either). It's not exactly a stretch to think he still might not be, although he's got no choice when it comes to Darnold.

If you think Mary Kay Cabot is spouting propaganda for the Browns, I can pretty well guarantee you don't read her articles I can add if you think she's portraying Matt Rhule as "anti-Corral", you probably haven't really read this one either. She simply said if the Panthers didn't like what they saw in Corral, they could return to pursuing Mayfield (which is a perfectly reasonable take). Wilson did report mutual disinterest, but later also confirmed the Browns and Panthers were talking. Same as pretty much everyone reported during the draft. I get that you're wanting to portray yourself as more reasonable than the rest of the unwashed masses, but you're off base here.

Her exact quote: If the Panthers and Seahawks are waiting for the Browns to cut Baker Mayfield so they can get him on the cheap, they better not hold their breath. That's not an intimation that either team is doing so, just a use of the expression to say "that's not likely to happen". Cabot first reported that the trade talks were dead in the water after the drafting of Corral. Ta this point, multiple sources in both Cleveland and Charlotte say it's still technically possible but the Browns would have to bend...a lot.

Well it was under your current screen name, but Sanjay was your old one until someone asked you a personal question that set you off on a massive rant and got you banned (and yes, I remember the question) But the more important question: Which story is true? Your dad passed nine years ago or was playing golf with Pat McCrory just a few weeks back? I mean...you're not...lying, right?

I'm guessing you mean Rhule because James Campen has a stellar rep as an OL coach.

No idea whether McAdoo will succeed with us, but to his credit he did a pretty good job in roles not named "Head Coach". Lots of guys have failed at that but succeeded at lesser jobs/ For example, I wouldn't judge Dick LeBeau's DC career by his head coaching record. Given that he has actual NFL experience, it's reasonable to think he'll at least be better than Joe Brady. (granted, that's a low bar to clear)

I've seen nothing where Cabot suggested the Panthers offered a second. Somebody from Bleacher Report suggested the Browns might get a second rounder for him. Cabot's pre-draft report was that the Panthers had the inside track, but also wanted Cleveland to pay a significant portion of his salary. She was right on both counts (link). As far as Panther reporters, Ellis Williams and Jonathan Alexander have both said similar things, as have national guys like Jeremy Fowler and Aaron Wilson. Also, given that she cites the Observer in the linked story, it's not exactly farfetched to think she and the Panthers beat writers have compared notes.

Cabot addressed that... The Browns have no plans to cut Mayfield, even if he’s still on the roster at the start of training camp in July, a league source tells cleveland.com. With Mayfield under contract for a fully-guaranteed $18.86 million, it makes no sense for the Browns to cut him and take the entire hit. They’ll subtract whatever he makes from his next team from that amount, but it wouldn’t make much of a dent. The Browns would be better off hanging onto Mayfield and seeing if a team is willing to take a sizable chunk of that salary off their hands in the event of a QB injury before the trade deadline, or the realization that their starter isn’t cutting it.

Suleiman introduced to Jeffrey Laurie (by Nicole Tepper)
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Career advancement for Suleiman. Again, nothing against that, but that's always the double edged sword. -
From Albert Breer, covering the NFL Diversity Summit (link) Vincent saw Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp bringing her assistant GM, Ray Agnew, to other owners in the room, and Bears owner George McCaskey doing the same with defensive coordinator Alan Williams. Suleiman said Nicole Tepper got him over to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, and even commissioner Roger Goodell was helpful in that regard. It's definitely possible cap guy Samir Suleiman could wind up getting a job promotion elsewhere before Dan Morgan does. I get the point of the summit, and I respect Suleiman's career goals, but have to admit the idea of introducing one of our top guys to another team's owner makes me wince a little. Not a huge deal, just kinda

For those who remember The Huddle blowing up Dave Dameshek's uniform poll... Related: the author of this, Broncos website writer Andrew Mason, was (briefly) employed as the lead writer for Panthers.com before getting his dream job working for his favorite team.

The fact remains that football is not business. The fact also remains that others have done it in less time, but Tepper still hasn't done it at all. Heck, the team hasn't even shown improvement yet. If anything, they've gotten worse. Which means again, using the standard that you applied, Tepper is a loser. (and here I thought you liked him)
