Will be interesting to see, for sure.
-
There is now. It's pretty generic.
-
If Tepper chooses to go that route, it won't matter who gets hired. If he wants to get a good candidate at GM or head coach, he's gonna need to promise non-interference.
-
I'll repeat what I posted in the other thread (actually appropriate to this discussion)... Former Huddler Casillas (who has a couple of inside sources with the team) has a theory on one possibility. He thinks Fitterer could be "promoted" (so to speak) to a job where he continues all of the general administrative duties of the GM job, but would have no role in personnel decisions. Don't know how realistic it is, but I'd say it's possible.

Halaby is mentioned in the article. So is Catherine Raiche, along with another female candidate in NFL exec Dawn Aponte. Other names the article mentions: - Bucs Assistant GM John Spytek - Seahawks Assistant GM Nolan Teasley - Chiefs VP of Football Operations Brandt Tilis - Giants Assistant GM Brandon Brown Listed but not profiled... Chad Brinker (Titans) Eliot Wolf (Patriots) Trey Brown (Bengals) Harley (Saints) Malik Boyd (Bills) They also added this: The wild card is Cowboys VP of player personnel Will McClay. He would be one of the hotter targets if he sought his own shop. Some rumblings of that occurring exist, but the Joneses are fond of the 21-year front-office veteran, and would they allow Washington to poach its personnel ace? McClay would be my top choice, but his availability is a big question.

I wanted to see he and Reich have a chance to build together. That went out the window when Reich was fired. But then the Hunger Games article showed it wouldn't have worked anyway, so... c'est la vie. Now, do you plan to keep pushing a personal discussion and agenda or would you like to try and discuss the actual topic?
-
No argument. Brown could go back to RB Coach, though I think It'd be funny as hell if Johnson brought Staley back.
-
That's pretty close to what they fined Bud Adams for a middle finger salute in 2009. I was expecting higher "inflation" (maybe I'm the range of a million) but I guess not.
-
I've said it repeatedly since the "Hunger Games" story came out. But I guess that doesn't your narrative, so...

Understood, though I think Tepper is more to blame for that than Fowler. Truth be told though, it's consistent with stuff from other sources. As to Teppers influence, I don't think he directly made any decisions, but I do believe he might have influenced some of them. Numerous sources have suggested that he influenced the Young pick. Now, that could have included backing Fitterer if there was a difference of opinion between he and Reich. That'd still be meddling, even if it was a less direct form. All that said, I don't think any of it matters. You can't keep a guy who undermined your last head coach. if this idea does turn out to be what he wants to do, it'd be pretty tricky to pull off
-
And the fact that you'd rather talk about me than actual football stuff tells me a lot But then, your usual MO is to sh-t up other people's topic while never saying much of anything yourself, so...

I mean, not that you'd ever deliberately misrepresent what someone who's debating you is saying or anything, but...

Tepper getting absolutely destroyed on WFNZ
Mr. Scot replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, he does. He's made admissions in the past which show he is extremely aware of how he's perceived. -

Bailey reportedly said Tepper was acting like "a drunk stripper" when he threw the water at the crowd. -

There doesn't have to be any pressure for that to happen. -
Yeah...no

Duplicate post
-
In one of Scott Fowler's latest columns, he said he was told by a former Panthers staffer that anyone who disagrees with Tepper ultimately gets removed. Don't know the background or the veracity of that, but you absolutely can't operate that way...especially not if you're bad at what you do.
-
I wouldn't really look at it that way at all. There would be some obvious changes though. We've got a few potentially duplicate titles where one guy could be let go. And of course, a new GM is going to want their own people. That's where a non-interference guarantee from the owner comes into play.
-
That's in a topic of discussion for a long time, with the obvious target being Kevin Colbert. If we got Colbert, then I'd guess our next GM would be former Steelers Director of Pro Personnel / current Eagles personnel guy Brandon Hunt. Hunt was the guy that Colbert was grooming to be his successor, but the Steelers chose Omar Khan instead. It's been suggested that was who Mike Tomlin wanted. Hunt left the Steelers for the Eagles shortly thereafter. I know some will associate getting Colbert with trading for Tomlin, but word it is those two don't exactly have the greatest relationship. An internal power struggle between them is reported to have been one of the reasons why Colbert was only willing to sign single year extensions near the end of his time as Steelers GM.

I actually like the idea of having veteran competition for him next season, but I also agree that it might be unlikely. Some have even suggested a draft pick like Michael Penix.
-
That's the idea. You'd have to resolve the trust issues stemming from what happened with Reich, though. That's where I have a hard time seeing it.
-
One other minor note... Ray Agnew and Panthers VP Adrian Wilson are both NC State grads, though from about a decade apart. Near as I can tell from a cursory look, it doesn't appear they ever crossed paths in the pros. A pairing of Agnew as GM and Wilson as Assistant GM could certainly be interesting
-
Agnew would definitely be closely tied to Johnson. And I think one of the conditions that will be needed for the next higher is what Jed York did in San Francisco, i.e. longer guaranteed contracts and promises of non-interference from the owner. With everything that's happened, it's kind of hard to imagine Tepper getting a good candidate without those things.
-
That's been my take, despite certain people's suggestion that I'm just looking for a way to keep Scott Fitterer around Casillas theory might work if the new GM and head coach are promised higher authority and independence, something which I honestly think needs to be promised regardless of what happens to Fitterer.
