There was discussion a while back that the team might restructure his contract so that instead of him having a 4 million hit this year and an 18 million hit next year, they'd just spread it evenly over the two years (about 11.5 million each). It wouldn't surprise me if that's the "strong plan".

I want a left tackle pretty badly, and if we don't get one I'll be annoyed. But I'm not gonna melt down. I'll do the same thing I do every time the Panthers make a move I disagree with and hope for the best. That said, if a quarterback is on the board at 8 and we don't take him, I agree several people are likely gonna go apesh-t.

Honestly, my biggest head shaker is him thinking Greg Little can start this year. A lot of us don't even believe Little will make the roster.
