Some of us don't even have to wait that long 🫥
-
Your timeline is way off, dude. Gettleman was fired in 2017. Newton was still around until Rhule was hired. No real guarantee of that given Newton's playing style. Nor does it really matter anymore. And no, it doesn't mean anybody "deserves" to suffer for it. This is football, not justice.
-
You kinda have to look at it as a braintrust. For his first two offseasons, Fitterer was tasked with getting the kind of guys Matt Rhule wanted for his systems. Now we've got entirely different coaches and systems, hence why some guys acquired previously don't fit anymore. That doesn't mean everyone needs to go, but it does mean we're starting from scratch more so than some realize.
-
Except for his first season because most of free agency was over before Morgan was hired.
-
Yeah, talking about what a franchise or fans "deserve" is silly in general. But as far as Newton, pretty much nobody associated with his career even works here anymore, so I don't know who's supposed to "deserve" anything.
-
Okay, what the hell...
-
Yeah, apparently he's a bit of a misfit. Realistically, he's not talented enough for coaches to put up with his bullsh-t.
-
He's already got a shoulder injury. Couldn't throw at all this week up till today. That's a huge concern for a quarterback, especially after just one game. (remember what shoulder issues did to Newton)
-
David Carr through his full career showed that wasn't a sustainable model. (Joe Burrow is showing it too)
-
Better point would be that there's no such thing as a "wide receiver scout". Scouts work geographic regions, not positions.
-
Guys like that typically wind up looking great when they play but missing a lot of time. More often than not, they end up signing with several teams over their career, each time hoping this time they stay healthy.

It was close enough to be uncomfortable.

Just saw that

That was kinda the point.
