Report: Jim Harbaugh wants to return to NFL (Athletic)
Mr. Scot replied to amcoolio's topic in Carolina Panthers
The first richest owner (whom Tepper can't even remotely compete with) is reported to have already initiated contact. -
Ben Johnson vs Shane Steichen
Mr. Scot replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd honestly like to keep our current special teams guy. (OL coach too) -
Well let's just say that as far as she knows, I feel exactly the same. In other words, I am a husband
-
Should probably mention that while I'm not on the Wilks train, my significant other jumped on with both feet a while back and is still there. Lady Cowboy Fan firmly and absolutely believes the Panthers should hire Wilks.

Appreciated. Lady Cowboy Fan works in the healthcare field, though she's generally not in a direct patient contact role. Even with that caveat, I'm kind of surprised she went this long without getting it. Her sister doesn't have the greatest immune system. As she puts it "that woman could catch something from someone just passing by them while a breeze is blowing"

From the guy who's been known to say stuff like "they created that rule just for me"

Honestly, for most of this season Evans hasn't exactly been stellar, certainly not up to his previous standards. That's one reason why the announcers talk so much about him being "back" yesterday.
-
Smith scored on plays of 58 and 39 yards in that game. I remember one being a sideline go route. Don't remember the other and stat summaries typically don't list what route a player scored on, but Smith "happened" to a lot of teams that same way. As far as yesterday, our safeties were Jeremy Chinn, Xavier Woods and TJ Carrie. I'm not sure any one of them, including Chinn, makes a big difference yesterday. I get what you're saying. I just don't think it would have mattered.

Ben Johnson vs Shane Steichen

Potential staff is one of the factors I always like to look at for coaching candidates. Offensive coaches frequently bring their quarterback coaches along, Steichen's QB guy Brian Johnson is getting some good press. Johnson's is a familiar name, former Jags QB Mark Brunell. -
Meanwhile...

I'm a little sadder this morning. Lady Cowboy Fan has tested positive for the virus. She has a heart condition so she's an elevated risk case as well. Her sister apparently had it when she came here for Christmas. She has various lung issues so her having those kinds of symptoms wasn't necessarily anything unusual. I'm still negative so far.

I'd say "better than" is a huge understatement. Rhule was absolute dog sh-t. I don't think Wilks gets the job, and I'm okay with that, but he at least deserves respect.
-
And he'd have deserved it. Wilks may not be "the guy" but he's worlds better than Matt Rhule if for no other reason than that he's actually qualified to be an NFL coach. Matt Rhule never reached that standard and likely never will.
-
Rhule's contract, situation and length of employment vs Wilks... Probably helps that some of our more persistent nitwits got banned over the course of the season. (including one particularly dim bulb yesterday)
-
Definitely seen plenty of games where a single receiver killed an opposing defense, sometimes even a good defense. Hell, Steve Smith "happening" to a dominant Bears defense in 2003 was as good as anything.
-
See above. We could be Dr Strange and play out an infinite number of "what if" scenarios from yesterday but still wind up with nothing in the end. And no matter what else occurs, I don't see Wilks getting the full time job...and I'm okay with it. I'd throw in that I think Chris Godwin is very underrated. He's long been a guy I'd be happy to have wearing our colors.
-
Wilks has been willing to do that before. Bottom line for me about yesterday though is I don't think anything was going to matter. We weren't winning that game. I'd throw in that Bowles and his defensive staff seemed to do a better job handling our offense as the game went on.
