Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
Mr. Scot replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
One of Johnson's old colleagues helped develop Will Levis last year. One other speculation is that we could hire Shane Waldron and he might bring Geno Smith with him. -
No, Scott Fitterer isn't one of them, but there are a couple of surprises. The names they do name and the reasoning behind them are as follows: Nick Caserio (Texans) Two straight years of being one of the worst teams in the league is hard to defend. Steve Keim (Cardinals) Poor roster evaluation, thinking they're a contender when they're nowhere close. Tom Telesco (Chargers) They actually think he's doing okay but acknowledge that Chargers ownership is dumb and impatient, so... Mickey Loomis (Saints) This one sounds like a head scratcher, but they tie it to the departure of Sean Payton and the hire of Dennis Allen despite knowing how much of a failure Allen was in his previous job. George Paton (Broncos) This one's probably not as much of a head scratcher. It's based on the hire of Nathaniel Hackett and the absolutely devastating Russell Wilson trade.

Probably not, but that doesn't matter to some. I've said before there are certain fans who, any time they see an athletic quarterback, think it's Cam come back to them. Some folks don't seem to get how unique Newton was. -

Meaning the comparisons between Richardson and Cam Newton aren't personality based. -

It ain't about his personality. -
My question too...

Nothing wrong with that. But it's a lousy way to choose a quarterback prospect. -
News for the UNC guys...

From 4 Man Rush... Most of the respondents answered the latter. He made a poll of it too. Only about 15% said they loved Richardson himself. About half (47%) said they just miss Cam and the other 38% said they'd rather have somebody else. -
Mac's idea... I'd probably flip it (Reich HC, Wilks DC)

Did see a rumor that current Panthers LB Coach Mike Siravo might wind up being Rhule's DC in Nebraska. He's a longtime Rhule guy so it would make sense.
-
It's all scattered chatter, but apparently there's some belief that Snow's going to retire. What makes me take it seriously is the fact that while Rhule has already filled several positions on his staff, he hasn't named a DC. If it were Snow, you'd think he'd be there already.
-
Speaking of Rhule, just did some looking around and apparently word is that for the first time in a long time, he's going to have to do the job without Phil Snow as his DC. I'll be curious to see who he gets instead. There's some speculation he could go after Jim Leonhard since he's now out at Wisconsin. There's talk that some NFL teams might also be looking at Leonhard.

"You see this bullsh-t Rhule is telling everybody?"

I'd agree that Smith is an excellent example. The guy coaching him is also a potential head coaching candidate for us. (as is the guy coaching Goff)
-
Yeah, I do. I remember Stafford on the Lions too. Genuinely think that trade benefited both of them. (which I honestly wasn't expecting)
-
The thing about Wilks is if you hire him, it's pretty much critical that you get the right OC and offensive staff under him. Can Wilks himself choose the right guys? Don't know, but that's the kind of thing you need to know.
-
Smith isn't the only analyst to mention it. But if all you look at is stats, you're not necessarily gonna see it. It comes from people watching him play. Goff isn't the point though. He's an illustration, and there are others you could find. The point is that we absolutely have to get the coaching right before we get the quarterback. Otherwise the impact of any draft pick we make is going to be blunted.

He's way better than he used to be.
