We had this discussion with Deshaun Watson. What's the point of acquiring him if you trade away your ability to build around him? Beyond that though, regular season Jackson has been amazing since he was s rookie. Playoff Jackson...not so much. I'd need to see improvement from playoff Jackson before I'd be ready to make any deal.

Yeah, just saw Pickett go in.

Meanwhile... And this was an absolutely perfect response...

If and when if and how Rhule is let go
Mr. Scot replied to TrevorLaurenceTime22's topic in Carolina Panthers
"Do you know what Homo Sapiens Sapiens actually means, its literal translation? Man, wise wise. Think about that. We named ourselves doubly wise. Hubris, arrogance...humans are a blight. We should all be eradicated." - Henry Grace -

Because the alternative is having faith in David Tepper. -

I think the second that happens, we all go into "please in the name of all that's good and right and holy don't screw this up" mode. -
Why aren't we acquiring compensatory picks?
Mr. Scot replied to DMathematics's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pretty much... Despite the talk, we've never really been in rebuild mode or even build mode, for that matter. We've spent the vast majority of our time in either "win now' mode or "save my ass" mode. They should have changed their slogan to "Rome wasn't built in a day...but we're damn sure gonna try!" -
Define “Star QB” I imagine a lot of people’s definitions would be a Josh Allen type that’s an amazing athletic specimen. But as much as I know people go apesh-t when someone says this, you don’t have to have that to win. What you do need is a guy who can read a defense, process what he sees quickly and throw an accurate pass. If he’s also a great athlete, cool. If he’s not, it’s no big deal.

List of Top NFL Head Coaching Candidates in 2023
Mr. Scot replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am too, but I don’t think he’s ready to be a head coach. Definitely don’t think Kellen Moore is. -
Definitely. But will he?

List of Top NFL Head Coaching Candidates in 2023

My preferred candidates would be guys like like Rich Bisaccia or Don Martindale, but I know how the league’s trending these days. If we’re going by connections though, I’d think Ken Dorsey. -

He's also had Brady. Neither Leftwich nor Moore interests me yet. -

Byron Leftwich has only been coaching since 2016. He has less coaching experience than every potential candidate except Kellen Moore. -
Aaron Wilson: Tepper's patience with Rhule growing thin

That could be why his name was mentioned. -

I think you can. Gotta remember agents are one of the common sources for insider stories. So for example, Matt Rhule's agent could be the guy telling someone like Rapoport that Tepper is going to be patient with him. Funny thing is though that the details of Wilson's story aren't really any different from Rapoport's . There's just a different sort of spin to it. -

I think that's probably more of a pipe dream scenario. Right now, Tomlin is probably the most powerful guy in the Steelers organization. -

One is talking about short term patience, the other about longer term. -

Mr. Scot replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well if your benchmark for football knowledge is Marty Hurney, that's not exactly a high bar to clear. I mention them though primarily because they're who he has available right now. Granted, he could look elsewhere but I don't think he will. -
But hey, Dan Quinn Seriously though, I do hope if we get to the point of looking again, Tepper listens to advice from Fitterer and Morgan rather than just doing his own (likely idiotic) thing. Maybe somebody could also ask Luke Kuechly if he can think of anybody...

He might be able to now if he actually lets Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan handle it. They might disagree with his ideas though (can't have that)
