He wouldn't be insanely expensive for us but he wouldn't be cheap either. $9 mil for 2025 escalates to $19-20 mil for 2026 and 2027 and then skyrockets to $31 mil in 2028. But, after 2025 all the guaranteed money would be gone for us.

I think the recent breakdown video of Bryce(posted in here) shows really the biggest issue from a play callers standpoint that hurts Bryce. He is very often off schedule because he has poor footwork and it can lead to him looking around what appears to be aimlessly because he is waiting for the play to unfold. It also impacts his decision making because he is making decisions before the play is really able to unfold.

It was nice to see us take them and KC to the wire. If we make a step forward as a team this season, we can look at those close losses and say that was really the start of the turnaround. Conversely, if we have similar results as last season, it's likely just going to fade into history.

Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.

I think it's more related to the difference between proven talent and projected talent. Our proven talent is quite literally almost nonexistent. Our projected talent could be significantly more. Obviously, it remains to be seen how many DJ Moore's we get and how many TMJ's(not making this position specific, just giving examples of clear progression of careers and talent being realized versus not). This could be an exceptionally terrible, underwhelming, okay, fairly decent, surprisingly good, etc roster. All that has to play out on the field because our known entities in terms of above average caliber NFL players is paltry but most standards. All that digital bloviating to basically say, "Show me." As for Tepper, I genuinely don't think he has meddled that much less and I don't think he has stepped back. I think he just cleaned house of most of the people chirping about it internally while not making himself so publicly visible because he is very aware of the meme he has made himself and this franchise. IMO, he will continue to fug this franchise over because that is who he is as a person.

I think "amazing" is basically relating to his prior performances, which is a very low bar. Even at his peak(so far), he hasn't consistently been an elite performer either by the simple eye test nor statistically. Regardless, we have seen the flashes of WHY we drafted him #1 overall and he is visibility significantly more confident. Hopefully he has spent an inordinate amount of time this offseason getting that footwork better and more consistent. That's going to be a massive factor in his continuing improvement.

Yeah, these arguments are getting twisted to the point that it's just an airing of old grievances for the 100th time. No matter what happened in the past, no matter what the "trajectory" is, Bryce has to show why he was a number 1 overall draft pick. If people didn't like Cam and what he did for us at QB, I hate to see what poor Bryce is gonna get if he doesn't reach Manning-esque heights.
-
The offseason is always when hope springs eternal. If you look past that, you can see a very bad roster with a lot more questions than definitive answers. Let's hope we get a lot of those right, because I think we are a lot closer to another impatient Tepper reset than we probably think.

These arguments are getting more and more disingenuous from both the pro and anti Bryce crowd. Bryce looked very good for stretches down the final 8 games. He finally showed glimpses of the guy that was projected as a top QB pick in the draft. Bryce also didn't look like a top 10 NFL QB. I think we are so far removed from Prime Cam that we forget what an elite QB looks like. I could tell that when people were losing their minds and simping for Sam Darnold. This season needs to finally showcase Bryce as a franchise talent. If that doesn't happen, it's time to pivot. There are very few recent examples of QB's struggling or being a mixed bag through the first three seasons of starting and then suddenly becoming frachise caliber players.

BREAKING: Panthers make “meh”ssive changes to front office
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's a fine balance. You need elements of both. -
Doesn't really make sense for us or him, IMO. We are still a few seasons away(assuming things go well) from being a serious contending team and he will be over the hill at that point. Seems like more of a consideration for the "win now" franchises.

As a former Bryce Stan, it's pretty wild to see the pro and anti Bryce camps being so illogical. He looked far improved in the second half of the season but he also looked like a lower Tier starter in a lot of ways. This is, as was previously stated, sort of the put up or shut up year for Bryce. If he doesn't really start looking like a franchise QB, it's probably time to pivot in 2026. I don't mean if he is a bust, I mean if he is still just this game manager-esque, 200 yd passing guy that occasionally flashes big plays and big throws. Franchise QB's are usually undeniable in terms of talent very early on. Bryce's talent was supposed to be his brain and ability to process at a high level. If that doesn't head toward Brees-esque results.....oh wee mayne.

Canes vs Panthers Rd 3 Game 2 Thursday 8pm
kungfoodude replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Just saw the score. Basically have avoided watching since G1, 1st period of this series. It was obvious what was gonna go down. Florida just has our number. Injure as many of these ***** as possible before they face(hopefully) the Oilers. They do the same to us. fug them. -
Honestly, the tiers make a lot of sense to me. Glad to see people have finally come to the realization that Darnold and Richardson are fools gold.

Scott Morrow deserves better (and so does the team)
kungfoodude replied to lightsout's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
TBH, he is too much of a nutcase to ever be able to be consistent, IMO. It's his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. -

It's a one year deal, however. -

Goalie is gonna rear it's head sooner or later. If an option presents itself, it would be hard not to jump on it. Kochetkov doesn't seem like he will end up being more than a backup. -
The Evolution of the Panthers OL (2023 - 2025)
kungfoodude replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
You might want to go back and re-read that original post, dogg. You didn't read it correctly. As for BC, the market spoke and there was even an ESPN article predicting him as a 6th or 7th tier FA OL and being worth slightly less than we signed him for. He is great for us as a backup but literally not a single NFL team views him as anything but a backup OL for VERY obvious reasons. -

The Evolution of the Panthers OL (2023 - 2025)

Yeah, I mean 19th pretty much says it all. It's time to plan for the future. Mays is a backup level C/OG. That's great for us because he can join BC down there and help us stay deep. -

?? I mean, how much more recognition do you need than being in the top 5 in OG contracts in the NFL? -

I wish but his drafts are very Fitterer-esque. -
The Evolution of the Panthers OL (2023 - 2025)
kungfoodude replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we have to eventually get serious about getting a real center. None of those guys mentioned are legit top 15-20 NFL centers. Mays is a BC-esque backup, where is value is maximum. Corbett is really an OG playing out of position and we know BC is a utility depth piece. We have a ton of roster needs over the next 2-3 offseasons/drafts but we should finally get a Day 1-2 center drafted, IMO. OT's are as you say, we could be set there or we could be heading towards a reset. TBD. I just hope we don't lose our focus on keeping the trenches strong. On BOTH sides of the ball, for that matter. I am concerned that with our constant changing of coaches and GM/FO guys that will get fuged up. -
The Evolution of the Panthers OL (2023 - 2025)
kungfoodude replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hunt is a little overrated by the fans because he is a bruiser and plays very physically like Andrew Norwell did. IMO, Lewis is the more consistent of the two OG's overall. But, the addition of those two guys turned that unit around completely. That isn't debatable. Remains to be seen how that works out in the long term, given it runs counter to almost all roster building theory to have most of your OL money in the two OG's.
