I didn't take the WR2 spot because it was just simpler for me. I would agree on Moose, obviously. Horn probably doesn’t make top ten in franchise history because you actually have to play games to do so. I'm actually not trying to be flippant when I say that but that same argument could be made for a lot of our injury plagued players in franchise history. Would have and could have just end up mattering very little when you compare them to did.

If you really want to see some suckitude, take a look at who our QB picks have been post-Cam. Wow.

In defense of my punter pick, if you look at Hekker his PG averages basically smoke any punter in our franchise history. If we are lucky enough to keep him for 3-4 more seasons, he may own most of our franchise punting records. Also, I will say that in MOST positions my #2 guy was a worthy #1 overall guy. I guess it's kind of a shame how bad we have been overall as a franchise with some of the insane talent we have toted. Maybe not San Diego Chargers level of talent squandered but definitely top 5 in the NFL.

Yes but even PJ wasn't capable of challenging for a 2nd string spot in reality. Plummer is not an NFL player, nor will he be. There is really no sense even fretting over him. At any point he would possibly see the field we will see a mad scramble to sign free agent QB's. And we will also be assured of a #1 overall pick for the third straight year.

In fairness, he is the third string QB. It's been very many years since we had a 3rd string QB capable to even challenge for a 2nd string spot.

Being big is great.....if you can get open. IDGAF about measurables if you can't get open AND catch the ball.

I was a little skeptical of him as a prospect but I never figured that he would be the level of bust that he has been. Which, realistically he has improved only minimally over what he was at USC, another classic bust characteristic. That is something to look out for this year for Bryce. Very minimal improvement two years in is typically a pretty bad sign for a highly drafted QB prospect.

It just goes back to my general mantra of you don't base your decisons on outliers. Unfortunately those cases are probably at least 90% guys that just don't figure it out.

Okay, so when he fails in this situation, are you going to finally give up on him? I will say that this is just simply an inevitability because it is. The point I have made many times when people chase these reclamation project QB's is that if literally everything around you needs to be perfect for you to come close to be successful, aren't you just not a good QB in the first place? JaMarcus Russell had a howitzer of an arm and all the requisite skills but he had a 10 cent brain that didn't want to do any of the work necessary to be an NFL player. Ryan Leaf had every tool that Darnold has and more. But he was a nutcase that wasn't mentally prepared to do what it takes to be a successful NFL player. Those are just two of the Sam Darnold types that had all the tools but didn't have it between the ears. That's not accidental. That's one of the most common and most obvious separation points between being a good college player and being a good NFL player. After all, how could any Panthers fan argue that Kelvin Benjamin wasn't capable of being a good NFL player? We saw it happen. But ultimately once a few things didn't go his way, he didn't have the mental ability to battle back nor the work ethic to excel. Rinse and repeat, it's a story told dozens of times every single NFL season. It's very perplexing how so many keep getting blinded by a guy like Darnold who is just so incredibly clearly never going to be a successful NFL player because he doesn't have that in him. You can't be an NFL QB if you consistently struggle to read the field(this wasn't a shock, he also had these struggles at a smaller scale at USC).

The only thing remotely impactful that has happened so far is potentially a crippling injury in our worst unit. We need that to go well. Other than that...... HOT TAKE We still back tho

It was pitched as a "competition" but it probably wouldn't have been very competitive at all. Darnold isn't Brissett, who is going to keep Drake Maye from playing some games early. Maybe not as big of a joke as the Wilson vs. Fields "competition" that ESPN keeps trying to make an actual thing. There is a world where JJ looked like poo and Darnold had to be the guy. That isn't what transpired, however.

You will see Mullens play a few games and then I suspect they will try to hit the wire for someone like Flacco. As hard as they scrambled for a QB last year, they will scramble harder this year because that coach is going to be fighting to keep his job.

Corbett is one of our better blockers, so I am not surprised by this. It's the playing center part we need to see if he can excel at.

Darnold has about 10-20% wow plays but the rest of the game he is missing reads, holding onto the ball too long and making absolutely crippling decisions. If Bryce was pitched as a supercomputer, Darnold is a calculator watch. The disparity between his brain and his athletic ability is one of the biggest I have ever seen.

I mean, as a former Bryce stan, it just kind of is what it is. Certainly there isn't a very satisfying point in bashing him at this juncture. We are probably stuck with him as a starting QB for at least another season and a half or so. We should all wish him the best. The alternative is pretty fuging depressing.
