I'd be totally happy with Darrisaw. Not as elite as Sewell or Slater but still a 10 year starter at LT.
-
I agree.
-
Sewell or Slater make a ton of sense.

Can we take a moment and enjoy what having a competent GM looks like

We have no idea what kind of GM he is. -
Like scouting 14 year old QBs lmao

At the end of the day, you have to trust that our coaching staff knows what they are doing when they put the stamp of approval on Darnold.
-
Is this how far we have fallen in the huddle? Is this it?

we were the only ones who wanted sam darnold lol

There were more teams interested, they just stopped being interested after QB situations were solved, once it became clear they had no leverage because they were obviously drafting Wilson (lol except for the Panthers I guess), and they realized there was not much budging on a price tag. -
Ehhh I wouldn't bet on it.

The plan was all in on Watson, we were all but done in getting him, and the thing happened. So now you played your hand and have no way out of it.
-
I don't think the Panthers know what the future plan is.
-
I know the Falcons prefer Trey Lance, so whatever that means for you.
-
Nope. I have asked and he does not know.

I got clarity about Darnold on Saturday. Didn't leave much room for speculation lol I still think we could go QB, but it is much more likely we got get a CB or olineman.

So the one thing my guy has always been consistent on with us is that Teddy is not going to be a member of this team at the start of next season. Teddy will not be a Panther. If Fields fell to 8 I wouldn't rule it out, but it seems unlikely.
-
Don't necessarily think this is true.
-
I am positive he will. Stability helps a lot. If not, hey Sam Howell is a pretty cool guy.

At the end of the day I have faith in Matt Rhule and Joe Brady to turn Darnold into something he has not been at this point in his career. I am at least excited about week 1 now, as compared to the feeling of complete boredom and dread I had if we marched out there with Teddy B.
-
Darrisaw could go at 8 as well. Trade down would be ideal, but if Darrisaw is the best tackle on the board, just take him there.
-
For the record, I think the Panthers lost the trade. You made an amateur type move allowing your desperation for a QB become public, lost out on moving up, lost out on DW (not their fault), and settled for a QB who has done nothing but be a bust to this point in his career. There were no other teams coming close to this compensation and you really kind of flopped into Darnold, and it is probably directly from the top. This is a mark of confidence within our coaching staff, there is faith you can get past Sam's constant mistakes and mechanical breakdowns. You have pushed all your chips into your coaching staff and Sam Darnold. Darnold will be good enough to not get you a top 10 pick next year.
-
The last QB Adam Gase coached. Granted, I think Tannehill was better than Darnold was at the point of Gase departing for both.
-
I'd be cool with any of this. You are really in a cannot lose position at 8.

I see a lot of technical things in Sam's game. I also see a lot of breakdown of his mechanics and reliance on physical skillset when a play breaks down, which in a NYJ uniform was pretty much every other play. You cannot make it to the NFL and play remotely well without learning the nuances of playing QB. Just silly. Then you would also have to argue that our entire coaching staff missed that as well. More stability and better coaching should put him at a higher level of play. Good enough to be a franchise QB? Who knows. Better than what we have now definitely. Sick dig at the end though.
