No doubt. Coaching only takes you so far. You need to those 5/4 star rosters at this stage of football. I’d like to see the breakdown of IU’s roster vs ND. I doubt it’s that close. The weaker talent is going to get exposed bad in the playoffs,

I loved the IU coaches vibe in his introductory presser….not so much anytime else I have heard him talk. They ain’t ready for this type ball. Notre Dame less dislikable now that Brian Kelly not there anymore for me too.
-
Probably. But I think having to weather an early storm/issue is pretty normal thing to have to go through. Guess we will see if they can settle in after the early mess. I think the bright lights and big time stage is going to get a couple of these teams

College football playoff kicks off highlighting 30 year old Notre Dame kicker and transitions to talking about the 6th year IU QB.

you know what's great to hate...

It was year 2 for the staff in ASU this year. They went into this year with an upper half of the conference recruiting class. They added a new QB and new #1 WR in the portal. yeah, names on paper don't mean anything. Bodies and talent does. Bill (the name), needs time to add talent. I think the target would be looking at year 2 or 3. I mean in theory, I guess if the next portal window in April was just nuts I could change my tune. But I'd wager despite your hype, Bill is going to more stubbornly go about his business than your hype train suggests and try to build a culture in UNC (and that takes time and recruiting).
-
Omarion Hampton is what kept y'all from being bottom of the barrel this year. And yall finished 12th in the ACC. He just left. Think as of right now your 2025 class is ranked dead last in the ACC. Seems like pointlessly unrealistic expectations for Belichick you are setting for year 1. Bill has to stack some talent. Just saying the ACC is weak and we got Bill leaves a lot out of the equation for 2025.
-
Betting the spread I like Tenn and Clemson I probably would bet Tenn just straight up to win right now. I think the end of Day happened vs Michigan.
-
Probably so in the big picture. The 2025 class has largely already been recruited though. The portal is what it is. Bill going to need time to find the kids that will be what he wants and that will put up with his world/ways. Bill also sold this as a development team for the next level idea….not a rent/pay and try to buy wins now effort. Bill in reality might be a lot more Dabo like than some think. As in stubborn to whatever his way/idea is going to be. Who knows. i just think the auto contender next year stuff is silly. I’m largely just needling WhoaCam and addressing the timetable Whoa put out there.
-
No clue what your schedule will look like yet…Clemson fairly predictable because they will still be portal light. Syracuse might bring their QB back. If they do, they would be favorited over y’all. No clue what TCU and others will look like yet that likely make lots of moves.
-
Oh, I see…so Bill just going to train so wildly different vs the rest of college football that over a spring/summer whatever bodies exist will make a run at a natty year one. I was confused then by how it was going to work. I honestly hope Bill helps bring some respect to the ACC. I’m on the fence on if it would work though. I do think your expectations for year 1 are a tad nuts though. Bill needs time. I guess I’ll be defending Bill next year when you are bashing him lol
-
I thought you said UNC was going to build a national championship team with these portal kids NEXT year. I mean if he is a bum, what is the rest of it? Clemson already got two future first rounders on that line for him to roleplay around
-
I mean if you want to go to the league as a defensive lineman….Clemson is a proven smart place to go under Dabo. It is what it is.
-
#1 edge player in the portal just picked his new team….looks like he is going to play for the GOAT of the ACC
-
and that very well could happen. If this season becomes more the norm, then I would back off my complaint.
-
well, like I keep saying, the fact college football sucks this year at the top makes my point less clear. Clemson doesn't really factor on my take. The format does benefit the ACC though IMO. SEC/BIG10 have directed this thing to where we are, and in the end they are unhappy because it still benefits the other guys. The auto byes really make it dumb IMO. Because in a year with a strong top.....you could end up with strong teams having to pointlessly play there way into the playoff because of byes given to weaker teams and risk needless injury. So they might end up where they belong, but we don't get the game we wanted because they lost people to get there. I mean, I might can tolerate the 12 team but they got to re-format the seeding I guess is my primary point.
-
more teams can potentially win this year as a product of the top being so much weaker vs prior years though. CFP struggled most years to find 4 teams that all belonged in the same tier. I think if the top was stronger, it would like worse. Especially with the auto byes and how that ends up skewing the bracket.
-
as of right now, the new 12 team format is dumb and bad.....I don't see the games playing out in a way that changes that. 4 team while flawed and bad, seems better. If we had some legit great teams this year like in prior CFP seasons, it would highlight just how bad the 12 format as it stands is.

we all know times have been weird of late. I'm surprised that's the only info he brought back from the future. Probably just baby stepping it. That info alone is tough for so many.
-
I didn’t want to start a new thread about how it seems pretty clear that time travel into the future does appear to in fact exist ….so I’ll just share it here. Next most logical place. https://www.si.com/college/clemson/football/espn-analyst-sam-acho-picks-clemson-tigers-to-win-college-football-playoff

when we look back, football will have really ruined a lot of great things about college athletics.

this just makes me think of all those that lecture folks when we "question" ownership, GMs, coaches, etc. The "you aren't qualified to critique/question" folks.
