Before he played his 17th game.... 3 HCs (current a first timer), 2 OCs (both first timers), 2 completely new offensive schemes, a combo of OL that might break a calculator trying to figure out the number of unique lineups. Neither of the 2 HCs let him rep preseason games going into either season. Current brand new O playing to his weaknesses....that features new WRs to learn, OL to trust, etc. Saying but we paid for 2 guards and added new WRs....doesn't change the blender they put him through. The pass folks give this org is crazy. Yes, Bryce Young is not a NFL QB. It was a mistake to draft him. I'm glad he is benched. But I can say all that....and still acknowledge what a joke this org was doing all they did. They drafted Bryce Young (which was a mistake) but then they handled that as badly as one could imagine.

Andy Dalton hasn't played 16 games since 2017. Dude is older. We aren't really positioned for too hard of a victory lap on never seeing Bryce Young play again.
-
I don't know. Everyone defines game manger different. My preference is using the word gunslinger. I mean, you want to reel them in and control them...but the offenses talked about were all sort of dependent on the gunslinger mindset IMO.

There is no point in paying attention to anything Canales is saying. It's all just PR gobbly goo.
-
Bryce Young struggled early at Alabama. Above the shoulders. New could just be something he doesn't actually do well.
-
Geno and Baker statistically stood out in one very specific aspect. League leading. You can't just be a game manger IMO. The downfield deep pass is they key to those prior offenses working out.

the only prolific scorer that pays attention to us Steph Curry. and she isn't going to say his name because then someone could ask him about whatever she is implying that isn't real.

RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
CRA replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
A team that wanted Bryce wouldn't be signing him to step in Sundays to fill the hole of an injured starter. You acquire him to develop him (and that's not a Sunday activity). -
I think Canales' main reason he got the job.....is because of the work he can put in behind a podium. I think that's really why Tepper hired him. Main reason Ron Rivera got hired in DC IMO was because they needed the boxes he checked publicly as they endured what they were going through. He is polished and says all the nothingness in a manner Tepper probably has been dying for. Rhule was horrible behind the mic. Frank was horrible behind the mic. Canales can get up their and sing and dance and say whatever needs to be said in the moment. The whole positive of Canales and there really was only ONE primary one we were sold.....has already been flushed down the toilet.

my brother's in laws neighbor said Jake Delhomme was at the Bojangles near BOA and appeared to have his cleats with him.

How did nobody catch this before drafting him?

also, if you look at the depth he often got to play with behind that stud OL.....it helped him see. A NFL pocket is just different. -
RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
CRA replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
this is the NFL, David Tepper just ended the Bryce Young chapter in Carolina. Dan Morgan/Tepper hold the keys to his career. Where they trade him to will matter if you are a Bryce fan (maybe there is one here somewhere) -
Bryce is a unicorn. A unicorn O is the only thing that would work. to me, Dan Morgan really was putting together the foundation for a 2003 John Fox football team. Canales fits that in reality. Run the ball, chuck it deep downfield. Bryce Young can't do that lol
-
yeah, massive OGs that Bryce can't sit behind and throw.....isn't going to work. The ONLY possible O for Bryce Young is a Bryce Young creation. He can't sit in a NFL pocket because he can't see. It has to be quick small ball and moving him consistently out of the pocket.
-
Bad marriages. That's the Tepper way. It's that way every season. He puts things together that don't fit. It happens, because David Tepper runs the show.
-
In no sane world....does a downfield chunk pass offense play to Bryce Young's strengths. All of his offenses he has been around, from Tampa to Seattle have lead the league in deep shot attempts (often #1 in the league). That was broken down time and time again. It's the whole bad marriages thing. How would that play to Bryce Young's strengths? Now did some fans choose to run with the entering the season BS Panther propaganda and run with it? Sure. The catering to Bryce bolonga? Canales' O have always been consistent. And Bryce is as bad of a fit for THAT as it gets.
-
it's the worst start in franchise history. Frank was actually in games. Canales hasn't been in a game going into the half. Heck, Canales hasn't been in a game going into the 2nd quarter.
-
I mean, I think it actually plays better from a PR perspective if the HC said... look, clearly we haven't setup Bryce up well for success organizationally. 3 HCs, 3 playcallers, 3 Os, new folks at every spot as the norm around him. ......so we are going to hit the reset button a little and give him a break to take in this new O and all that entails. No time table on how long that is but we want to setup him up to be successful long term. Then you can just quietly go about trading him and starting over. I think that plays much different. Instead, they just look reactionary and more importantly, visionless and planless.
-
yeah, lot of folks sort getting cover here.....because Bryce is bad. Collectively the fanbase right now is willing to overlook the obvious bad going into this season. We are worse now than the Frank Reich era (despite much better foundational talent on O).....because of this present day staff. So much for the legendary advisor Jim Caldwell lol.
-
because Frank Reich went to the bad QB management playbook and used that play week 2 last year. and it's not a timeout. it's the end of that era pending something drastically doesn't force their hand.
-
it was always obvious Bryce Young was going to greatly struggling in the type O Canales was going to want to run. The looks and throws run against what Bryce Young is. Talked about ever since the pairing was made. I know I talked about it non-stop. Bad marriages. So that's why benching Bryce does nothing really to change the trajectory. We don't have good people in charge. Will be maybe get better QB from Dalton in Canales O? Sure. But we are further behind than ever before at the QB spot....than we have in the Tepper era. I keep saying it over and over. The Tepper Era really is defined by a desperate idiot at BOA that botches the QB thing over and over and over. And it is without question, he brings out the worst possible outcome for any QB. Andy Dalton is likely not about to have a good time. Maybe a good debut as new and different helps most people initially. So I am prepared for a insane overreaction to Sunday.

I don’t understand the the hate on Tepper for Bryce getting benched
CRA replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
listening really carefully.....I think Canales watched the tape and was like OMG this is rough stuff (hence his I had a thought verbage). He then went into his weekly meeting and Tepper told him the Bryce show is over. That forced Canales to go talk to his team about what the new plan now was. because if it was Canales decision, his presser after the game would have been different. Hedged his bet. He didn't need to study the tape to know how horrific that was. Canales by all his talk, surely looked prepared for a long and slow and often ugly progression. He talked about a lot going into this year. And all his players were singing the same song post game. And based on how he answered questions Monday morning after the benching....it seems clear it was Monday morning meeting move by Tepper. Because if it was his call.....it would have been the easiest thing in the world to just say Tepper supported his decision. Which he was unable to say. And reporters did a good enough job sort of forcing him to show the decision hand by his non-answers IMO. and I am 100% cool w/ benching Bryce. They should of built their roster for the likely benching. If you were going to be willing to pull the plug after a 2 game bad start.....then the QB room should of always looked different. Added talent and competition. Jordan Love just went down. They ain't playing Vinny Testaverde. -
Trey Lance went for a 4th I think. Got to think that would be the goal area.
-
sure, it's just a great setup in a vacuum. but as he entered his 17th game of his career....it was still has 3rd HC, 3rd playcaller, 3rd O, who could count what # of OL setup it was....and his HC didn't give him any real time to work on things in the preseason under live fire. It wasn't a great setup in reality for Bryce because all those things before the week 1 game factor. We shouldn't of drafted Young. But we did ensure we got the worst version of whatever he was going to be. And that's a worry going forward, about the brainiacs in charge. Their entire plan going into the Canales era was an utter joke.....and it was still utter joke even if they felt they would move on from him quickly. Because they didn't setup and prep for that being a legit possibility.
