  1. Here is his current deal. Let's see how much that changes.
  2. I get it, but if Thomas got cut then that left Tremble and Sullivan as our TE room. Talk about thin! I'm all about Morgan firing shots across these dude's bows, but then there is completely spiting yourself and having your butt flapping in the wind.
  3. It makes me think Morgan basically said, 'cut your contract or be cut.' Making some dudes an example. If the Ian Thomas "restructure" ends up being essentially a salary cut, then Morgan's message has been sent to the rest of the team.
  4. I'm not sure, but unless Morgan is already talking out of both sides of his mouth, he said no kicking the can down the road. If tacking on a year while saving money overall is the move, then I can live with that.
  5. I love the no BS attitude he's taking towards these underachieving players. It's refreshing for a Panthers GM to hold them accountable. It's the back fill I'm concerned about and how it's going to be a near impossible task. The reason I feel more and more that this will be a full rebuild (see tank) season.
  6. It has to be his blocking. HAS TO! Dude is horrible in the passing game. One thing is for certain, after Hurst failing to restructure and most likely Bozeman, people are looking at modifying their contracts a bit differently now. Morgan is telling these dudes they are not playing up to their contract so they can take a cut and keep their job or not and go sit on the couch for a while longer.
  7. One thing this does prove is while Fitterer and Morgan worked side by side and are still friends to this day, they don't necessarily approach building a NFL roster the same way. Morgan is already cleaning up some of Fitterer's past moves even though we have limited resources to plug new players into those holes.
  8. Itty, bitty cap savings, little purchasing power in FA due to Burns and only six draft picks, yet we are creating more holes. I get the roster needs a make over, but if we keep cutting able bodied guys at even fringe starter quality and absorbing 99% of their cap hit just to be anywhere but here, then we are tanking. There's no question about it. What a fugged up year to tank. Lol at the PSL holders who got their ticket prices jacked up to watch the 2024 tank show.
  9. Oh, throw in the Giants to move back up into round one mix too if they don't land a FA QB like Russell Wilson. They can move on from Jones after this year without too much damage while sitting the rookie QB. If the Steelers can't upgrade from Pickett, they may take a stab a #20.
  10. This could end up matching the 1983 class in terms of first round QBs. I expect QBs to go 1,2,3 and then you have Minnesota and Denver. I know that's only 5, but look for a team like Seattle to possibly take a stab or teams like the Saints or Raiders to move back up into the first round to snag the last QB to sit a season and learn behind a aging veteran whose cap savings are significant in 2025.
  11. Just because it's from a recent article doesn't make it interesting as it is old news to me. I could care less who the sources are. All this had been hashed out on this board numerous time.
  12. LOl! Saving from the Hurst and Bozeman cuts COMBINED are less than 400K! Tagging Burns took us from one of the teams with the most cap room all the way down to 12M remaining because they can't figure out what to do the dude. One decent FA will wipe that out.
  13. We had better hope there's a Joe Burrow in the next draft class as it's looking WEAK right now.
  14. I think Newton writes for the housewives of fans so they can catch up on the Panthers or fans of other teams. Most of the stuff he writes about is old news to most of our fan base.
  15. I get Hurst, he supposedly declined a pay cut plus coming of a injury filled season and we are looking to upgrade anyway. Bozeman would at least be a solid backup. His salary is already on the books whether he's here or not. As mentioned, his cap savings a minimal with the release. The only think I can think of is he declined a pay cut and/or was told he wasn't starting no longer whereby he asked to be released.
  16. Making even more holes on a already Swiss cheese roster. Create the competition, but taking the dead hit for a guy who -at bare minimum- would be a heck of back up makes zero sense. Cap savings are tiny, FYI, so it's not a cost saving move.
  17. Eh, I think it's lying season in an attempt to get people to look for tea leaves that don't exist. Unless Kirk Cousins, Justin Fields or Russell Wilson ends up in D.C. or New England, QBs will go 1,2,3. Bank on it. Neither of those situations are going to leave the QB question unaddressed. We all know the Bears are taking a QB.
  18. Ugh, will he retire already? Newton put sources to what we all already knew. The staff had too many voices, put too much on Bryce's plate and we lacked the personnel to run the offense we were attempting to run...all meaning Young will probably look better this year. Earth shattering!
  19. You don't sit at #3, just traded you QB and can get one of the top QBs in a super talented class just to move out and take a non-QB. I mean a spot or two in a move down if you are 100% sure the next team isn't taking a QB, but why take the risk? If they move to #5, they could get leapfrogged because the next several teams after that pick are in the QB market.
  20. TE, CB and WR at #2 quality in FA. Outside of that, trade down in the draft and accumulate a couple extra picks. Top of the first round picks are worth gold; bottom of the round silver. After that you are looking for copper around the scrap yard. We just have to be able to locate it. Meaning, since we don't have the lucrative first rounder, we might as well take the time to look for the value in the mid to late rounds. The more we have, the better chances of finding what we are looking for. It can be done, we haven't had the scouts and GMs to pull it off in the past. The Rams have been killing it of late finding those mid-round gems and they haven't had high picks in the past few drafts.
  21. The Combine is becoming more irrelevant. In a few more years, it will take a back seat to pro days in terms of importance. Heck, instead of opting out of parts of it, top prospects may even skip it altogether.
  22. It was the first attempt to roll with someone other than Thomas. Yes, many of us were happy. Hurst got cut and still was better than Thomas.
  23. Yup, they are going to force it even though Bryce doesn't fit.
