They were projecting that the last few months after the trade - not the 2 years leading up. And my point was just that everyone had them both 1 & 2. Those projections also were mostly what they thought WE were gonna do, not who was better.
-
You should go back and read it again.....I said Cam was disappointing, not his rookie season was disappointing
-
Bryce and CJ were the projected #1 and #2 for 2 years leading up.....everyone had them there. Not disagreeing with you - but you would be hard pressed to find many who truly thought CJ was a star and Bryce was a bust....they all said they were both special.
-
Yeah all the Cam lovers can come get some....he was a very poor QB. The guy got an MVP on Luke and the defense - not cause he was exceptional - his stats that year were mediocre and the same as every other year. The man had 3 winning seasons in 10 years....he was one of the least accurate QB's in the league his entire career....he had way more talent around him than Bryce does and a much better O-line. He was the best QB THIS franchise ever had, because we have never had a top 10 QB. As a #1 pick Cam was a disappointment without question.
-
Now you pivot to a very broad definition of showing something to include running? The ONLY thing Cam, Fields, and Richardson have shown is that they were elite RUNNING Quarterbacks. To date Cam and Fields are terrible overall QB's who couldn't win consistently and turn the ball over at a worst in the league rate. Cam's INT was 2.7% and Fields 3.7%.....those are horrendous. Fields has won 6 games in 2.5 years....Cam nearly had a losing record for his career. Cam never lived up to the #1 pick status and Fields is going to be replaced in 2024....very poor choices for the argument. Cam was every bit as disappointing as Bryce has been so far. Trevor and Stroud I agree showed something.....both in better situations than Bryce - Stroud MUCH better. But I disagree that Bryce has shown you nothing. That's my only point. You watch Bryce and he is clearly better than Bridgewater, Baker, Darnold, Heineke, anyone the last 4 years. His accuracy and decision making is light years ahead of all of them and Cam and Fields. Just because he isn't a runner doesn't mean they showed more....they just showed different.
-
Last thought - you are also saying, if I can paraphrase here "he isn't showing us he is special like 2 of the best QB's of all times - HOF'ers". Those guys didn't show you anything their rookie year either.
-
Mahomes also had Travis Kelcey....you know HOF TE, one of the best all time in his prime? Plus at least 2 WR's at any given time better than any we have. Plus his O-lines as bad as they were never were as bad as this one. With Rodgers - again he had Romeo Doubs, Allan Lazard, and Cristian Watson.....who on our team is better than any of those 3? It isn't all the QB....Houston we had 4 drops of Bryce completes 80% for more than 300yds...glimpse of special? TLaw is another example - his year 1 was statistically worse than Bryce so far and he had better receivers and O-line even though they sucked. You get him Evan Engram, Christian Kirk, Travis Etienne, and improved O-line a amazingly they make the playoffs. Plus it is not true to say Bryce hasn't shown anything special - he has made multiple great throws to covered receivers in tight windows. The TD throw to Tremble against Houston, multiple scramble away throws to Theilen. If you watch anyone knowledgeable break down his games they show you great accuracy and anticipation and some special plays.

I would love to know who you are referring to....I can give you an example for my side....Aaron Rodgers last year....2-3X more interceptions as his normal year, lowest yardage in his career for a 16 start year, comp % same as Bryce.....and what was the issue? Bad Oline, young-mediocre receivers....much better receivers than we have. Bryce has played 6 games in the NFL in the absolute worst situation possible for a rookie....he isn't overcoming it yet, but acting like elite QB's can have reasonable success with the worst line and receivers in the league is ridiculous.
-
He is also playing like a guy who is constantly hit by huge dudes...give the man an O-line and watch how the super processor works without "OMG" occurring every play. Panic is real
-
You need to ask Frank Reich - can't throw to no one

Donte Jackson to(o) valuable to trade away
Stingray3030 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Donte is the worst tackler on the team and gets burned consistently by decent WR's - but hey he is cheap so let's start him..... -

Albert Breer on Panthers trade deadline strategy
Stingray3030 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
As much as I like Burns he is being wasted.....the smart play is trading him for a 1st and 2nd or 3rd if you can. This team is 2 WR, 3 OLine, 1 DE, 2 LB, 2 CB, 1 TE, possibly 1 RB at least away from the playoffs....you ain't getting all that in the next 2 years without selling some pieces that would be replaced anyway. Burns, Chinn, Jackson, TMJ, Tremble, Thomas, Thielen, Chark, Thompson, Hurst.....they should all be considered available...wouldn't trade em all obviously, but...we are 0-5.....if we are 0-7 by the deadline I mean what do we really have to lose the last 10 games here? They proved they are an 0-7 team. -
What is jerry Judy's Trade value?
Stingray3030 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Steve Smith is my all time favorite Panther....I didn't think I could like him any more than I did when he played.....until last night! -
I'm not saying I think Fitt is the best or even very good - I am simply saying y'all love to point out a few players that didn't go as hoped and ignore the ones that were fine or upside. Those 4 picks so far are Mingo, DJ, and trading up for Bryce....if you are calling them a loss at this point you are just irrational - 1 more pick next year Riddick had a great year - we just couldn't afford to pay $15M a year to him and sign everyone else I just listed DeShawn cause he is a nice value vet pickup - our defense has looked great Shy Tuttle at $19.5 is right at his market value - $6.3M a year Y'all still ignore the fact that this is what was available for the money we have. We had some contracts to get out of and a TON of upgrades needed. AND we didn't have the single most important piece of all - a QB. Rebuilds take time and pain.
-
Miles was a Pro Bowl RB at 26yr old - we have him for a reasonable contract - not to mention we have an out after next year if needed and very low cap hits the year after if he sucks. It is a very good contract for what he is and for our future. He was one of the best options available. Clearly I meant DeShawn Williams - I keep doing that for some reason You are really blaming Fitt for Robbie's mental collapse? The man was 27 coming off an 1100yd season - 15th in the league. I guess we shoulda known he was going to lose his friggin mind? You didn't mention this but the McCaffrey deal. I agree CMC is clearly a 1st round pick, but we got 4 picks (2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th) which is almost the most a RB has been traded for in value. And you see how the league values RB's these days. Guys like Cook, JT, Jacobs....look at what they are worth to teams and we got 4 fairly high picks. That is far from a bad deal. Y'all need to get over your 20/20 hindsight - at the time most of these deals make complete sense and most GM's would do the same thing.
-
Gotta love posting a cherry picked list of transactions like that is all he has done Should we ignore the Free Agent signings that have been good? Thielen, Hekker, Riddick, Chark, Sanders, Luvu, Bell, Damien Williams, Bozeman We also traded Robbie Anderson for 2 picks - wasn't worth $20, and traded Arnold and a 5th rounder for Henderson - we won that deal with Arnold doing nothing and CJ at least a starter at the nickel Our drafts were trash for a decade outside of Round 1 - that wasn't all Fitterer either. Clearly he hasn't been the best, but he has done alot of good. Unfair to act like this falls on him - especially when he has a non-football owner and a moron head coach until this year to appease.
-
Maybe - I think it depends on a few things like how Burns plays and if the Bengals get their act together. If they return to form the pick is lower but they would wanna keep Higgins if they have a SB run this year. But would be great
-
Most of this thread is ridiculous - but this I agree with. Higgins and a 1st round pick would be outstanding. Then get another O-lineman with the pick cause ours is trash!
-
How about 2:01 when Mingo dropped it in his hands, 0:12 when he audibled and threw a side-arm to Thielen and the O-line stood in the way, 0:32 when he threw a dart between 2 guys perfectly and was dropped, 0:46 where he lofted one to Thielen that should have been PI or catch if he stopped for the ball like he should You could even show the 2 sacks where he held the ball too long - that is at least on him - but you'd have to ignore the 5-6 throw always or completions he had to make running for his life on our horrible line. But no - you pointed at 3 plays that were bad throws out of 33....yeah how horrible.
-
You are INSANE - the first one he got hit as he threw clearly, 2nd one he threw across his body on the run and put it on the guys hands broken up by good defense, 3 & 4 were overthrows by a little on timing not horrible but on him I guess even though he had a guy on him the first one, the 2:40 was a clear PI that was called!, 3:03 was his fault - indecision, and 3:21 was a covered receiver he tried to give a chance near the end of the game None of that is any different that EVERY QB in the league....you cherry picked 7 plays out of 33 and only 3 were on him....You'll also notice almost all of them were to Mingo and none were to a receiver who had any separation. THAT is on the WR
