You definitely dont build teams to be consistently good in 1 year either.
-
There's no such thing as "Grier garglers". He played very solidly tonight. Anyone wanting to say otherwise isnt being constructive. You can admit that, it's ok. You know what you wont see all week? Multiple posts about how Grier should start over Darnold. We understand some people really dislike him but at least be constructive about it.
-
The people saying he did awful are the same ones who were posting all week about PJ being great with his below 50% completion rate last week.
-
Clay Johnston has looked really active.
-
Yea it was definitely a miscommunication and Grier misread it.
-
I'm fairly sure it was an option route where the wr could sit in the zone right there or cut it deep.
-
The certain group of Grier haters have just been waiting this whole time to mess up so they can blow this place up. Especially the ones that overreacted so much to PJ last week. Grier isnt good either but the fact that hes played this long wne all they can complain about is him taking a sack on a totally missed block speaks for itself.
-
The blind Grier hate is crazy. Hes not great but hes went what 4/5 so far with a perfect pass to Marshall? He gets sacked when the guard totally let the DT come up the gut literally untouched and there are multiple posts about Grier taking the sack..
-
Wow that Dennis Daley total whiff.
-
That throw by Grier to Marshall couldnt have been handed off more perfectly.
-
What would be the reason for that? Hes obviously going to be the week 1 starter.
-
Because PJ is competing to be a backup. They arent the same.
-
That Grier isnt that good. That doesnt mean PJ is either though
-
That's true but at least those injuries would be risked on downs that actually count.

Carolina Panthers - Baltimore Ravens Joint Practice 2

Once the regular season starts I definitely dont think there will be any worry about protecting Darnold. Training camp and preseason is a totally different thing than the regular season and he will basically get one make or break season most likely. Darnold has even acknowledged that. -

I believe he just told the WRs to catch the ball. -
No one is saying the WRs are a problem. They are saying they had drops, which they obviously did. Why is this such a disagreement. You can say a wr dropped the ball without it meaning anything else.
-
Its not coddling if the wrs dropped the ball. Again, what Rhule says may actually be the truth. I'm not sure why so many people want to turn everything he says into something else. He was 19/36 with a bunch of drops. I know there were more than 5 but let's say 5 of those were caught. Hes up to 24/36 with a 66% completion percentage and everyone that didnt watch it is reacting completely differently. Well almost everyone, some are stuck in their opinion regardless.

I saw tweets about at least 7 or 8 wr drops...

I'm not sure I agree because if Darnold sucks we will probably be picking early and this next qb class looks like it could be fairly stacked. -

It sounds like there is a surprisingly high amount of WR drops today. -

Hes not even played a down for the team yet. Stop reaching. -
If I remember correctly he also had another really nice play in the second half where he got through the line quick, the rb hit the other gap and Hoskins brought him down from behind while being held by the oline and they flagged the hold.

I've never heard a word about PJ performing better in practice? Also, how do you explain how PJ looked in his actual game time last season?
-
There is no level that PJ has even been considered in the same league as Darnold. That's not to say Darnold is a lock to be good but this PJ koolaid is strong. He looked fairly decent against backups the other night (as someone with a couple games nfl experience should) but he didnt even look great. He looked ok lol. He played in two games last season and looked ok in one and downright awful in the other one. Hell Kyle Allen looked like a world beater for 4.
