  1. I think it only helps. They are still just calling plays from the same playbook and you aren't showing wrinkles or tendencies in preseason. They dont watch tape of the other team ahead of time so there is really no chess to it. I dont think it hurts in any way.
  2. It is one of the things ive always heard mentioned about him. Steve Smith has said it a lot, even places like pff that love him, etc. They say he runs "California routes" where they are a little more rounded out and smooth instead of sharp and quick. Almost lackadasical but thats probably too strong. I think he will learn pretty quick that hes going to have to add some urgency and preciseness to his routes, hopefully.
  3. I would say he knew by the fact Sanders was nowhere to be seen in the play when he was supposed to be the check down. Ive not seen the all 22 so I dont know if he could have seen the actual hold or not.
  4. Are these preseason game stats that you're quoting? If so, you've said enough. Also Canales isn't even calling plays in the preseason, and you dont gameplan, watch tape at all, and try to be as vanilla as possible to not show anything for preseason games... please tell me you're not talking about preseason game statistics and these are from something else.
  5. Yea there are some differences though. Sellers was named a captain as a freshman and was sec academic honors every semesters. After this season he will have a lot more experience as well. I dont know that hes worth an early pick just yet but he definitely has the potential. My conspiracy theory about us being into him is mostly based on the fact that we had like 16 south carolina guys in for visits in the pre draft and I dont think we drafted a single one. I feel like they were doing some early digging on Sellers potentially.
  6. He doesnt fit in our scheme at all, trading assets, his age, and the huge contract. It makes absolutely no sense and im hoping its all just people guessing based on our previous need for pass rush. He is a 43 end, I wouldn't want him at edge.
  7. I hate these posts. Is tepper in the room with you right now? This over simplified single target scapegoat bs is crazy. We have no idea what is even going on behind the scenes. Hes definitely made mistakes as most people new to job do. He clearly has changed his formulas and learned from them so far it appears. He clearly really wants to win and has thrown a lot of money at trying, and seems to learn from mistakes. Did he play parts in why we have sucked? Definitely. The rest is just over reaction scapegoating.
  8. I think if Bryce isn't a fringe top 10 qb this season and we have an early pick again next draft they will definitely give a hard look at qb. Canales clearly isn't dead set on Bryce after benching him after 2 games last season and only bringing him back in after the Dalton injury. I still have my conspiracy theories about LaNorris Sellers.
  9. I think Evero is way too committed to his guys in general.
  10. I really dont understand why we dont give Richardson more snaps at safety. He has done solid every time, and always seems to be around the ball in the passing game. I think he should definitely be the other starting safety right now.
  11. It was above average. Statistically you could say it was average, but when it comes to qbr under pressure, big time throws, big time throws under pressure, etc he was top 5. They werent really calling games to try to get him to put up huge passing numbers last season. Im not saying he was great the second half of last season, but he was definitely well above average.
  12. Yes, he averaged around 2 yac last season i believe? Regardless I misspoke. We are constantly chasing Deebo Samuel gadget type yac guys. Guys who turn in to a rb after catch basically. I want a guy who can get quick separation on quick true routes and run from there, not gadget physical guys. Also, im still giving you your take but he was #189 in the NFL in yac last year. He had good yac his 5th year of college.
  13. Hes the opposite of what I mean. I mean a quick, shifty, route runner. XL is none of those things. In college he was a yac guy though, but not really what I meant.
  14. Panthers never care about yac, nor are they ever going to draft route runners early. The defense is never going to be scared to get beat over the top by us.
  15. It's crazy the amount some people on the huddle definitively know after the first preseason game.
  16. It 100% makes a huge difference when you're a guy not known for getting separation and needing to make contested catches.
  17. When your main strength is being a "big" target, that is entirely negated when you have to let the ball get in to your body.
  18. Agreed. We seem to only prioritize what a player does when the ball gets to them when they are scouting for players in the draft. I prefer what receivers can do before the ball gets to them,.ie route running, quickness and change of direction. Every receiver we bring in who is a great route runners eats when we bring them in. Thielen, Diontae, etc, but we never draft those type of guys. We focus on contested catch guys when that is the main thing modern defenses try to take away with constant two deep safeties. I will never understand it. Every year in the draft they get tunnel vision for big receivers in the first couple rounds, no matter who is in charge.
  19. Qb is a lot harder to learn and a lot bigger jump in difficulty from college to nfl. Also Bryce had lots of good college seasons to see what he was able to do. Also a lot of us had these concerns about XL before he was drafted (i have some really big concerns with tmac too) but hopefully he gets it together and is great this season.
  20. Yea its kind of worrisome that you mostly hear about Jackson and a udfa cb blanketing tmac so far. Everyone including the local sports media keeps saying hes looking good though so who knows what we are missing i guess..
  21. Camp being entirely closed to fans this year is a big part of it.
  22. Meh, this one isn't that good. Same old boring takes, nothing new or very creative. Pretty lazy.
  23. I think that looked much better on Bryce's part than tmacs. He made a really good adjustment to the ball but his separation is what is always going to worry me, he had absolutely none with Jackson on that play, Bryce threw him open.
