Know Your Foe: Los Angeles Chargers
frankw replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jim Harbaugh has to be loving this matchup. His offense just ran for 176 yards against the Raiders. What do they do to this run D minus Derrick Brown? Smells like another blowout. -
Looking at some of his other videos it's clear he's just a homer. Nothing wrong with that if that's how he deals with this depressing franchise. But I wouldn't give those delusions any views.

Worst part of the game yesterday was the end of the 1st half

Drafting a unicorn at QB changed everything. Ron had his moments and overall I liked the man and respected him aside from the moments of frustration with his gameday management at times. And his penchant for being comically loyal to his vet players. Although ultimately all of it boiled down to that fateful Super Bowl. Cam let us down. And Ron Rivera with his usual stubbornness damn sure did. -

Ron Rivera without Cam Newton would have been fired by his third season. He only became Riverboat because Cam kept prodding him. -
Their defensive coordinator had been taking a lot of heat at that time for his playcalling and their secondary was trash. This perfomance was followed by an abomination of a game against the Jaguars minus Trevor Lawrence.

Well beggars can't be choosers. I'll take what I can get. We spent 150 million dollars in free agency fixing the middle of our oline and traded up for our first two picks to address the offense to the direct detriment of our pass rush. It's time for whomever the QB is to step tf up.

Bryce Young's "best game" to date against the Packers. Take note that for the majority of this clip he is standing in the pocket and making plays and pushing the ball downfield. What people perceive to be "his game" is an improviser outside of the pocket is not going to work in the NFL.
-
They aren't doing it because every NFL team has 17 games of tape on Young anyways. Nobody is fooled by what's coming he can scurry around in the backfield all he wants. No one is scared of his arm or his processing ability.
-
Yeah I'm not falling into these traps. Everyone loved Canales after that preseason drive against the Bills. Now we're talking about him like he's Reich. Bryce Young just is not an NFL QB.

Baker was clearly humbled he was still a cocky idiot here (remember those t-shirts?) and the adversity he has faced in the NFL thus far has led him to this mature focused version of himself. This seems to be the first time Bryce Young has faced adversity in his life. Certainly as an athlete. And he looks like he'd rather be doing anything else. Don't see a light at the end of the tunnel.
-
Elite processing eh? Well I guess blaming literally everything on Reich was premature.

This is pretty much the only time I don't mind seeing the 49ers do well. Aaron Rodgers is an overrated twat.

About those big money Guards Morgan spent on….

I mean obviously all of us would like to be able to establish the run but it is a passing league. Without a competent passing attack discussing the running game is pointless. When we get a real QB behind center than we can begin evaluating the backs. -
Bryce could be a future cautionary tale...

Ah yes I see someone is employing that ol' revisionist history about the 2023 Houston Texans roster as if anyone here back in May of that year had the team that was one play away from the first overall pick the season before pegged as playoff bound and winning a playoff game with a rookie QB. It couldn't be that the presence of CJ Stroud's phsyical abilities as a passer has an effect of elevating those around him like other elite QB's before him. Which is a very common expectation for any passer picked within the top 3 picks of the draft yet for some reason here on the huddle it is unreasonable and a sign of blind hate for said QB. -
You cannot start Bryce Young again. He is not an NFL player.

The OL is absolutely doing work out there plays are available. I never co-signed the endless excuses about last years OL though. Was it bad? Of course. Were there still some solid opportunities that any starting QB worth their salt should be capable of making? Absolutely. Sam Howell was sacked as many times as BY was last year and was 12th in YPG while Bryce was bottom 15. The Commanders shipped his ass out. Meanwhile some people are still making excuses for Young. Wild. -

If we can get him a real QB I think Legette is going to be good for us. -
Monday Brew: Dealing with loss, and moving forward
frankw replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just saw the news. What a loss. Too many classics to list them all but one of my favorite underrated ones was his performance in Conan the Barbarian. He played an excellent villain. But he was a fantastic human being that inspired generations. RIP. -

So what this all boils down to is you think those who differ from your POV of endless excuses want the Panthers and their QB1 to be the biggest laughingstock in the league just so they can say I told you so?
-
I would argue you are simply making excuses and carrying water but if you think you're making an actual point then proceed.
-
Oh man I forgot about the talk of his arm "elasticity" hahaha. That was a key point to shout down any talk of perceived lack of arm strength compared to Stroud AR or Levis. Shows how truly desperate the talking heads were who were only worried about saying nice things about Alabama.
-
Wasn't he the one that returned a Bryce Young pick for a TD in camp? Too bad they don't get to play against Bryce for 17 games eh?
-
Would the Carolina Panthers move on from QB Bryce Young?

Didn't you initiate this by quoting CRA? Now you're apparently under some bizarre attack? Settle down. We can argue about specifically what he did or didn’t do in the offseason all we want but the simple fact of the matter is Bryce Young has not made any progress developmentally and we cannot place blame everywhere else but him any longer. The time for scapegoats is gone. He has to stand on his own two feet. He isn't in college anymore. I look at BY and simply do not see a #1 pick that is concerned with becoming one of the best QB's in the NFL let alone competing for and winning one or more championships. I see the same prospect I was concerned about before the draft. He had been given the best to work with in high school and college and afforded every excuse possible before entering the NFL while CJ Stroud was dragged through the mud as much as possible before the draft. What adversity has he ever had to face before this? It's time for some hard truths and tough love. Enough whispering sweet nothings in his ear from our staff and org. This is not a daycare. Step up and own your shortcomings and commit to striving to become a better player or get out as far as I'm concerned. No more coddling.

Matthews and Sanders. Damn that hype machine disintegrated quick! Our two OL signings are certainly holding up their end of the bargain.
