  1. I was skeptical of their insight with the Carr info but he did seem to be on track with the uniform comments. Who knows I suppose he could be legit. I do wonder if all this Bryce Young hype is just playing the game trying to get the Texans to bite on a trade up. Plus let's be honest it's in the best interest of the league to milk this for all it's worth and controversy sells.
  2. Reading through most of this thread the conclusion is people will decide the significance of the size concerns based on how much they like him. Those who love him see little to no issue at all. While those who want to assess the risk level for him long term as a prospect given our steep investment are more apprehensive. And look I like him a lot personally. But the combine just wasn't a good look and neither was skipping the weigh in at his own pro day. If he was indeed not wanting to aggravate his shoulder that's concerning and if he just didn't want to because he gorged on food or water to get that weight number it's also concerning. I would feel a lot more comfortable about him if none of the above happened. If anything I'd respect the hell out of him even more for doing his thing at the combine and owning his weight good or bad. That's the kind of mentality you need if you're going to become the smallest starting QB in the NFL.
  3. Plenty to like from both. But the lack of under center plays and already the clear need to design an offense around his size limitations makes it an even bigger gamble to pass on Stroud or even Richardson in favor of Young. Could pay off big. Of course it could also end with us looking like fools. Hoping we make the correct choice
  4. He has immense character it's really impossible not to like the kid beyond all the trolling here. There is hope with any of these top three. We'll see.
  5. Oh yeah I'm not downplaying Marvin Harrison Jr at all he's going to be a stud. I've seen Young's film and there are things to like but I think this is a situation where we figuratively and literally need to go big or go home just as you say. Glad we agree on that detail 🫡
  6. In fairness I'm only responding to posts that completely negate Young's one major flaw heading into the league while taking shots at Stroud for having quality receivers and ignoring the fact it's a mutual relationship and without his accuracy those receivers might not look so all world. When we first traded up to the top pick I started looking at film for all the QB's with an open mind. Now mostly everyone have taken to their respective corners. You know sometimes in this debate where we keep yammering on about extending plays and football IQ you would occasionally think this isn't a league where footwork accuracy and ball placement are so important in a time where offenses are so pass happy. There's more than one way to win a Super Bowl but for me I keep coming back to the fact we haven't seen a very gifted passer in some time. Stroud doesn't have the strongest arm but he can put the ball wherever he wants. I still lean toward that and let the staff develop him if our goal is to win a championship. If we have the cajones to pass on that I would rather say fug it and risk it all developing Anthony Richardson.
  7. We are just offering our opinions to pass the time. In my mind excelling at scrambling in college and the NFL are different animals. Yes there are traits both he and Stroud have that directly translate but that's the one I'm less impressed with overall because due to the fact he would he the smallest starting QB in the NFL it will not be a feature of his game if the braintrust tab him for the top pick. If they value their job security they will have him keeping that to a minimum and keep him relatively clean. We should and will also seek to shore up the oline even more to compensate. Now would NOT be the time to go back to our past approach of thinking the OL is further along than it actually is. I expect moves to solidify our OL depth to be made if he's the pick.
  8. I don't think the issue is whether or not it translates the issue is there's pretty much 0 percent chance of us seeing that aspect of his game much with our offensive staff. If he's the guy they are not going to risk their number 1 pick. Reich and our OC will be focused on getting the ball out quick and limiting the possibility of Young getting hit repeatedly.
  9. I wouldn't be angry about it. But I'd prefer another WR at 39. Of all our current receivers can we say any of them give you real confidence they will be available 17 games? Thielen is 33 TMJ has dealt with injuries recently ditto Shenault and Shi Smith. That leaves Chark who is possibly walking around on borderline glass ankles.
  10. Russ is not a realistic comparison. One he was always a threat with his legs. Two he had a horseshoe up his ass for a number of years. Three he won one Super Bowl where the defense and Marshawn did a ton of heavy lifting and where Peyton Manning put on the worst passing performance in a SB I've ever seen. If anything his decline the last several years should scare anyone away from drafting a QB even shorter than him at #1 overall.
  11. If we're excluding drafting a QB at 1 based on how they react to being pressured we probably wouldn't have even traded up in the first place. And to Young's under pressure numbers how many of those plays did he drop back several steps and dance around the pocket for 5 seconds plus? That's not happening in the NFL.
  12. Don't worry. The refs will protect him from those big mean scary dlinemen.
  13. Sounds like JT loves him some Bryce Young. Someone please inform him just as Stroud will not be bringing MH JR with him to the NFL Young will not be bringing Nick Saban and going up against prestigious opponents such as Utah State ULM Vanderbilt Mississippi State Austin Peay and Kansas State.
  14. You can say you don't care and size doesn't matter but the 17 game season disagrees with you. Wasn't every QB on our roster banged up in one way or another at some point last season? Newsflash. You dickriding this man isn't going to stop defenders from ruining his life. I imagine defensive coordinators in particular will be eager to put this all to the test. If they targeted Cam you think they'll be afraid to go after the smallest starting QB in the league?
  15. Stroud's accuracy and overall body of work within the pocket on top of his ideal size still holds the edge to me. I'd accept either BY or AR but to me both are big risks. It's fine to think Young will go on to become one of the GOAT's and the ultimate outlier for his size over the last half century but we have to address the odds. He's as much of a risk as Richardson for different reasons.
  16. 98% of the quarterbacks voted MVP over the last 50 years were 6'2 and up. Russell Wilson isn't a good enough reason to pass on Stroud sorry.
