Down 10-0 against Cooper Rush. Let's pump the brakes on the Stroud comparisons for awhile.

Can't be looking like this against the 26th ranked defense at home. Turrible.

Definitely something the coaches need to instill in him. Even Sam Darnold at his height and weight was damn near decleated against the Falcons that one game.

Defense is doing their thing out there. Offense needs to reward them. Especially Jaycee.

This is nonsense and you know it. I acknowledged the state of the OL last season many times. And we spent $150 million on that OL in the offseason and Bryce opened the season with two of the worst QB performances we've seen in a long time. Also I didn't say O'Connell is "better". I said statistically based on passer rating he is currently right there with Aiden O'Connell and Andy Dalton. Which is a fact. Anyone that cannot handle that needs to sort that out on their own. Perhaps a therapist can help.

I haven't seen anyone going out of their way to blame everyone but Stroud that's a baffling claim that only reads like someone looking to muddy the waters. He's always projecting. To him he and only he is the purest Panthers fan and he's been doing this for years. Did the same thing with Teddy Bridgewater to the point people were asking him if he was alright lol. None of this is as serious as he tries to make it out to be. We're all just fans talking and none of this is within our control.

I agree with much of what you're saying particularly about the offense and our receiving core. But I will say on the defensive side despite the at times dire circumstances with the roster depth they've faced this season this defense has been opportunistic the last few games. They also got this offense the ball back twice late in the game to give us an opportunity to win on the road against the Eagles. They do deserve credit for that. I'm hoping they can carry that into today's home game.

You were just preaching about believing in Bryce Young and last weekend pooing posts over stats now you'd rather lose for draft position? You literally are the biggest flake I've ever seen here.

Damn I forgot all about that game. We've been so bad for so long some of these seasons from back when we were last competitive seem like a blur.

His receivers were certainly talented. But when a passing game thrives like that it's due to a mutual progression. The right QB can make the right WR even better. See Nico Collins numbers before and after Stroud. Yes the 2023 Texans on paper entering the season were by all accounts by most fans and media talking heads likely headed for another top 10 pick. This revisionist history that Houston was a top destination for a rookie QB is absurdly comical. If need be we can dig up some predraft threads. Hell I distinctly remember some folks here declaring Stroud a bust when he threw an interception in his first preseason game.

Last time we beat the Cowboys was 2015 right? It'd be a nice early Christmas gift to beat them convincingly at home. They're overdue for it. Let's get it done.

Perfect storm? They were one play away from having the #1 pick the year before. Nobody had them pegged as a playoff team. In actuality a lot of people said Stroud would be a long term project in Houston that would not do much of anything right away given their circumstances. Trubisky comparison is out of pocket man come on lol Trubisky in 2018: 20th in yards 21st in yards per attempt 29th in yards per game 30th in passer rating Stroud in 2023: 8th in yards 5th in yards per attempt 3rd in yards per game 6th in passer rating

I would say the author should have chosen a better title. Regardless I still take issue with some of the logic. Particularly with saying don't judge them on their rookie seasons. That's just a little too convenient for me considering the stark contrast between them and the current case being made. I have no idea what Stroud or Young will go on to do for the rest of their respective careers but between the two of them at this point in time Bryce is the one who will have to do everything not only really well but with a little more on top to slam the door shut on those first 18 or so games that were at times historically bad.
-
Can't compare their sophomore seasons without diving into the fact that as rookies and the first two weeks of this season more often than not Bryce Young looked like he might not belong on an NFL field. If you're having a comparative debate you can't just erase that from the conversation. As such the best conclusion any reasonable individual can make is a much larger sample size is needed. The onus is on Bryce to do that next season when the games really matter for us and playoffs are on the line.
-
Objectively if he is a Panthers fan and here talking about his team he is by definition on the Bryce wagon. He may not be sold on him as a franchise QB but that isn't a prerequisite requirement to be a Panthers fan. There are definitely some folks here who just need their own community where they can heavily moderate others opinions.
-
Too small of a sample size to make any sound argument right now. If someone wants to argue otherwise by all means. But it would be rooted in hopium. We need to establish this is not a flash in the pan. For him to even enter into the conversation of a QB who was in MVP talks as a rookie would require the same. If he is doing this and more consistently next season then we have the basis of an argument. Right now he is in the 20-25 range at best in the midst of a season that is a rare low point for passing overall in the NFL.
