That isn’t the context I meant. Evero will already know all the concepts and XO stuff. He doesn’t need Dom for that. And I am not even saying he needs him. Just that Dom has seen it all. He probably has perspective on things that Evero is running into for time to time. that could be useful to Evero. like what to do if he gets in a power struggle with the HC lol.

I don’t see it as a bad look for us. Bad look for DJ. Every team misses on draft picks he got a 3rd year so meh in that context. It happens. I think we have another one in Wallace unfortunately. Maybe not but he needs that light to come on, now. I love it actually but I might be wrong about why I love it. I think he was cut as a message to Evero. I hope he was told, I can cut another one if you want me to. And I will unless you play the young guys.

Brees wasn’t 6’4” otherwise he looks like a QB. Mayfield is about his size. Thise guys are the edge of the envelope, where I look at a guy and have questions. Size wise they are the Southern borderline. Don’t cross it. Bro you can keep Murray. I will be good if a Murray slips through the cracks because of my higher bar. Outlier and not really that good a pro. At all. I agree he has tools. Fast elusive and a cannon. But I play the odds when it comes to this stuff. And Wilson was a third rounder and honestly I never thought he was that good. (Jump balls and a killer running attack and a killer D, he had success). Not so much since…(but he worked out great for a third round investment. That’s how you do it.Also, the context here is 1st round high pick that’s where I am at with it).

To even be considered, the guy must look like an NFL QB. What part of that is so hard to understand for these people?

New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause
strato replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah. I came to understand that even if we could somehow scheme up some wins with Young, and we probably could… I don’t like watching that brand of ball. -
Pretty horrible. Some is laughable. 7th round 2024 we did trade that guy for Mike Jackson.
-
I think he was drafting to a role he needed filled that year. With pressure on to get XL if possible. WR coaching background tells me maybe he knew where they should be ranked. McMillan will be his best work.

If just looking at him and can’t see it maybe you could figure it out from how teams play us - they don’t respect his game. His footwork saps the velocity from an already below average arm and it hurts him. The margins shrink when the ball takes that extra tick to arrive on the longer throws. You could foresee this too, I mean come on. NFL defenders are not college defenders, the NFL is as fast as football gets. You have to beat those defenders. There were valid questions about whether he could, that ended up with bad answers. -
It sure seems like it. I like it.

Many old guys know poo, that they didn’t know like, 30 years ago. Even if they knew a lot then. Insight into scenarios and such.

I did not notice that. I would have to watch but will take your word for it. Dave C was the new guy. They probably told him just watch us work lol.
-
I would be all for it but that is never going to happen. Tepper decreed it. Ron could run both and had as a DC so he went with it.

If Evero goes, Don will go, don’t you think? Sir Big Spur, if you think about it you can probably make a good guess. It does not look like Canales has rank over Evero to tell him who to play. Without overstepping. But Canales and Morgan have roster control. And Canales overstepped lol. That’s what I think. In general I don’t know how to evaluate the defense because they are the red headed stepchild here in the draft and FA 2022, 2023, 2024. They have been so neglected and so ‘underfunded! I can’t expect a lot. I know that maybe the players have been out of position a lot and that is coaching but aren’t getting the best brightest bulbs off the street. The saying I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you may be relevant So I just have a hard time being real judgemental given those things.

They were supposedly looking for football players and looking at production. As opposed to athletes. Looking for dawgs I really think Tepper meddled hard in the top of the 2024 draft and so that throws the value system out the window. This year I feel pretty good about the players we brought in, and the guys we picked on day three in 2024 yielded some dividends. Viewed through the lens of Tepper meddled round 1/2 and the later picks are pretty decent, and the 2025 yield looks strong, the narrative about shitty drafting may be dated. If you choose to separate the Tepper and the GM/HC picks it looks much better I don’t know if that scenario is accurate but I think it is reasonable to game it that way This with the misfit players drafted is timely. That is where continuity comes in. When you are changing coaches ever couple of years you get an abundance of players that can be ill suited. Plus it is hard on the players having to learn things and they have to think too much. I think we have seen that. I can’t say what we’d better do, not trying to turn it into that. But if we do not make the right decision on coaching and GM we will be doing it again in two years. At some point you know, you have to maybe stick with some people. I am not here to argue if those people are Dan and Dave just the concept. We have to have that.

J Person Athletic. 5 ways to fix Panthers
strato replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
The old show ‘Name That Tune’ I can name that song in 5 notes. I can fix the Panthers with two. Kidnap Tepper, get a real NFL QB. Arrow pointing up. Really, Tepper being gone would be a one note deal. -
Nicole it is a good question.
-
Who knows. No injury. Probably to protect that valuable asset with the game lost. Except he has no value to speak of. So maybe just to get Andy some work.
-
They had to make a move to activate Coker didn’t they? Maybe he is ready.
-
I speculated about a power struggle over the D after reflecting on Canales saying he was pushing for the young guys to play and watching the next couple of weeks. If I were a coach and a subordinate defies me by playing a player I would cut the player and tell him okay now you have to play the young guys.

Tankathon: Where we stand on draft position…..
strato replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Re QBs, people here poo pooed Dart last year. I don’t recall who. He was taken 25th. Thatbisnwhy I raged at selling the farm to go to 1 and omg the rage exploded at their use of the pick. But that trade never should have been done -
New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause
strato replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah he is playing not to get hit. It showed in the preseason too He really must not like that stepping into the throw and paying the price to make the play thing very much -
Seems pretty obvious on a macro scale that he put out the edict of save Bryce at all costs. Whatever it takes you do it. That explains the 2024 draft and FA. if in fact Bruce and dad lobbied Tepper for XL it goes micro. And makes a lot of sense. I knew or felt strongly that XL was a pick for the roster they had last year as opposed to long term I always felt that Brooks was a pick for Bryce because of the pass catching aptitude he displayed. And you have to remember he was supposed to be ready by camp. It was not a future pick either.
-
Reasonable. It would give fans reason to watch. Another thing, about the coach situation. We know we have Canales because no one else of any merit was touching David Tepper and Bryce Young. That’s a damn double whammy right there. Who could we get now? Reich was almost surely told he could get his QB but obviously did not. That has to be something that will factor, getting your own QB is all Tepper has to entice a new coach.
-
Makes perfect sense. Which is why I believe that was off the table for some reason. To the point I just now thought I wonder if Bryce lobbied Tepper for Andy. You get Canales working with a QB that can factor in the future, or you tread water another year with Andy who will be retired - he ain’t going anywhere else… It doesn’t make sense unless hands were tied. But nothing about Bryce Young ever made any sense. edit: PS the thought of Bryce lobbying for Andy made me think about his dad lobbying for XL. If dad wanted XL wouldn’t you infer that Bryce wanted XL? Extrapolate that one….

The camel’s back met the last straw. Is that an Athletic article? That would be Person, at least contributing probably but likely him. fuging Captain Obvious with that losing record quote. Man, I had Young off of my draft board because of his measureables and when it got really hot and heavy I looked at his video and he was still off my board. I can’t help but believe there were teams that felt the same.
