That's that offensive coach team personality, unless it’s a guy that was an OL coach. There is no fuging toughness only schemes and finesse. Forgive my bias towards defensive players and coaches but that is how it feels to me over and over in the years of watching the game.

I think the answer might be in the division of the staff that we heard about. (Then you have the OC, which he didn’t pick. ) Or it may be that he would rather have been fired than have to deal with what they handed him at QB, he probably couldn’t see the way forward with BY9. (It surely did not look like he did.) It may be Tepper’s temper which is certainly an ingredient to be considered in any analysis.

Thanks. I am not sure how it is a conspiracy though. For discussion’s sake I might argue the conspiracy was on the pro Bryce side, making sure that they got their man no matter the opposition. Now, the speculation because we have no confirmation, I would add this to consider: I don’t remember the financial terms (multiple millions no doubt), but after being fired in Indy, landing this job and being given 1st pick in the draft to get your QB would have him smiling ear to ear. So why wasn’t he? I think we can infer he felt undermined. Or whatever better suited word might apply.

I don’t know about Canales, but it has been my impression that they do not want clear competition for QB1. So if for some reason he looks good, I think he will be somewhere else before long. Which, I am fine with in the sense that we have a staff that is supposed to be good with QBs I’ve fantasized about becoming a QB mill and turning them into assets. Ala the Pats 10 years ago. We’ll have to have our sure starter for that to really work.

It won’t be the last red flag. The other guys giving red flags, had HC experience and Canales has never been a coach at any kind of big operation. I’m giving him a no penalty learning year, he gets his trial next season.
